Carolinas Freshman Showcase Team 1 Review

The event hosted a competitive field of talent, bringing girls from all across the Carolinas to compete over the 4 hours. Hailing from Eau Claire High School the lefty showed off her quickness time and time again to attack the basket. She is currently in between positions and shows signs of becoming a wing player over the next few years. Currently Skylar is more comfortable working inside the paint and facilitating inside out action for her teammates. She does a good job of getting position around the rim to gobble up rebounds and kick it outside to waiting shooters. Add her ability to knock down catch and shoot 3's and she is a solid player all around. Nothing flashy, and nothing forced is the name of her game. It's evident that taking care of the basketball to help her team win has been emphasized in her development. Eyona was able to get deep post position on multiple occasions and then score off entry passes from her teammates on Sunday. She also showed good poise out to 15', catching and scoring from high post positions on several occasions. At her best when she can attack the basket with space in transition she did a great job of creating havoc on defense and then pushing the pace for her teammates. Mckenna used her good frame and strength over the course of the day to snatch rebounds from multiple opposing team members in traffic, often drawing fouls on them in the process. She was at her best catching offensive rebounds, of pocket passes in the middle of the paint from her teammates, converting at a high level around rim. One of the few girls that could be found boxing out hard from start to finish on Sunday, she used her tremendous length at the guard position to grab multiple boards in traffic, and then start the break for her teammates leading to easy and early scoring opportunities.
