Another strong post presence for Team 1 this weekend was Mckenna Barnes. Mckenna used her good frame and strength over the course of the day to snatch rebounds from multiple opposing team members in traffic, often drawing fouls on them in the process. She showed a nice release on her jump shots from 15′, and she finishes well with both hands around the rim.

Names that used to wear the uniform of Wando making their way to the 3A state power that is coach Mandy Harrison’s Oceanside Collegiate team has been a theme of this offseason. Barnes is one of those names. The Landsharks were well-represented at this past weekend’s Prep Girls Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase in Rock Hill. The 5-foot-11 Barnes was one of three from Oceanside Collegiate that were on hand. Her most recent travel season was spent running with Team L.E.A.D. Barnes previously was part of the junior varsity Warriors. She was one of several eighth graders on a Wando junior varsity team that finished 20-1 last season.
