CGHR Da Future Showcase: Veteran Talents

Even with this year's AAU campaign in the rear view mirror, there is still plenty of basketball to be played between now and the start of the season in November.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Much of this hoops will take place in the form of showcase events in the next several months. One throughout the Carolinas that is regularly on the radars of many is Da Future Showcase which is hosted by Carolina Girls Hoops Report and emanates from the Talbert Recreation Center in the Mooresville-Lake Norman area.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand once again for Saturday's festivities. She proved this throughout the travel season with [program_tooltip program_id='1855543' first='Carolina' last='Hornets'] – one of North Carolina's most notable travel teams – and is poised to conclude her high school career with an exclamation point. Mundy was one of the best playmakers on the court at the Talbert Recreation Center and one can see through her play why 7A Cuthbertson finished with a 17-9 record last season. Mundy competed in 23 contests last season for the Cavaliers and averaged 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Mundy's most recent offer was courtesy of UNC-Pembroke and she also landed recent offers from Johnson C. She plays for [program_tooltip program_id='714756' first='Carolina' last='All-Stars'] but has established herself as a name to watch at Cave Spring. Braaten stands at 5-foot-2 and primarily operates at the four. That height makes her difficult to score on especially when she fuses together her length with her height. Offensive versatility is another key element to her game as evidenced by how accurate she can be from behind the 3-point line. Braaten recently landed an offer from Converse. Chapman put up career numbers last season in the 27 games she played for 5A South Effingham. She averaged 11.8 points, 3.5 assists and 2.6 steals per contest last season. One can place Chapman in a team's lineup at either of the guard spots in the backcourt and she will do the rest – either as a scorer or as a distributor of the ball. Last season, Giammalva helped Myrtle Beach to its first double-digit winning campaign since the 2019-20 season. Myrtle Beach also qualified for the 5A Division 2 state tournament and is returning to the 4A ranks. As a two guard, one would expect Giammalva to connect on many 3-point attempts but she also can be a defensive playmaker as well.
