Class of 2027 Sleepers: Still Available, But Not for Long

With transfers being at an all time high, the recruiting landscape is vastly different from just 5-10 years ago. College coaches are more centered on the right now (next year) than 2-3 years down the road. With that being said, recruits are being evaluated on making an immediate difference. How can a player immediately add value to a program- on the court? Although, it's been said, many times, many ways... scoring is not everything! Yes it draws attention, but it's far from the only trait that determines a player's value at the next level. Competitiveness, defense, toughness, versatility... the list goes on.   The following players from the class of 2027 have the ability to contribute in many ways and provide plenty of upside.    Mathis is a hardnosed player and has been playing up for years. She's an impact player because she is nonstop hustle when she's in between the lines. I've seen her add a consistent outside jumper to her toolbox along with the ability to shoot to the mid range. Mathis has the length, strength and speed to guard any position and this is what will make her an immediate impact at the next level.     Campbell is the definition of an impact player. She contributes to possessions that directly affect the outcome. She impacts the game without needing the ball by communicating, defending, screening, rebounding, creating opportunities, and making the right reads. I've watched her catch fire in close games and score and ones on back to back possessions. No matter the team, Campbell buys in to the team's schema and is adaptable in her role but remains consistent in her impact.     A 6'5 sleeper? Yep. I first saw Pittman in 2023 (<a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2024/01/mansfield-spring-creek-invitational-all-about-the-bigs/" data-type="link" data-id="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2024/01/mansfield-spring-creek-invitational-all-about-the-bigs/">read evaluation here</a>) and was deemed her as a work horse. She has only strengthened her base since, and she is a rim runner that makes a strong difference inside the paint. Green is a confident shooter. On a competitive CHSA team, she is used to playing off the ball and here, she thrives moving without the ball and spotting up for threes. She can deliver when it matters and understands when to flare or roll of (elevator) screens to catch and shoot. Green is definitely for green light to shoot.     When she's on the court, Taylor can wake the gym up with her game. Her pure athleticism is what will catch your attention, but her control and ability to create is what will hold your attention. She uses the same offensive go on the defensive end to lockdown the offense.
