Glacier Trails Conference preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With the pause in events, in August, I will get a jump start on my conference previews reviewing last season and looking forward to this season today checking out what happened in the inaugural season of the Glacier Trails Conference.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2025-26 Standings:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>1. Kettle Moraine Lutheran 12-0 (27-2) 2. Port Washington 10-2 (18-8) 3. Plymouth 7-5 (12-13) 3. Kewaskum 7-5 (14-10) 5. Sheboygan South 3-9 (10-15) 6. West Bend West 2-10 (2-23) 7. West Bend East 1-11 (3-22)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>1. <strong>Kettle Moraine Lutheran</strong>---The Chargers, undefeated in the first season of the Glacier Trails, saw their season end with a 77-71 loss to Wisconsin Dells in the State semifinal. I love their chances to again run the table due to the fact that they return all but 11 points per game lost to graduation. Returning are three 1st Team All-Conference selections in juniors [player_tooltip player_id='931583' first='Brooklyn' last='Luehring'] (14.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 2.9 spg), [player_tooltip player_id='932119' first='Mya' last='Mayer'] (14.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, 0.8 spg, 1.5 bpg) and senior [player_tooltip player_id='751259' first='Hayden' last='Lauer'] (11.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.2 spg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2. <strong>Kewaskum</strong>---Kewaskum, who's season ended with a 49-38 loss to Port Washington, moves up two spots in my predictions for this season. Having only graduated two, the Indians return a nice veteran mix led by 1st Team All-Conference, 5-7 senior [player_tooltip player_id='1114682' first='Cameron' last='Boelte'] (15.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.1 apg, 3.3 spg) and juniors Lily Prost (5-9, 7.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 spg) and Olivia Gerhartz (5-6, 6.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.3 spg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>3. <strong>Port Washington</strong>---The Pirates had a terrific 2026 season finishing in second place with a 10-2 record and winning 18 games overall eventually losing to Beaver Dam in the Sectional semifinal. The Pirates, hit hard by graduation, need to find a way to replace their top two scorers and about 28 points per game. On the bright side, Port Washington does return eight players including 6-0 senior [player_tooltip player_id='751255' first='Delaney' last='Rauch'], a first team All-Conference selection a year ago. She had a solid season putting up 12.2 points, 5.8 boards, 2.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game and she will be one of five seniors back to provide leadership for this veteran group.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>4. <strong>Plymouth</strong>---The Panthers, owners of 3rd place finish last season, which ended in a 44-29 loss to Lux-Casco, drop to 4th in 2027. Like Port Washington, Plymouth, and new coach Erik West, is also tasked with replacing four graduating seniors and about 20 points per game in productivity. A couple of top returning options are 5-5 senior Izzy Stielow (8.4 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.2 spg) and 5-6 junior [player_tooltip player_id='889649' first='Natalie' last='Mauk'] (7.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.1 spg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>5. <strong>Sheboygan South</strong>---The Redwings to me are one of the more intriguing teams to watch, this season, in the Glacier Trails. Winners of 10 games, a year ago, they return all but one player and have a strong nucleus of youth and veteran leadership. I could see them finishing anywhere in the 3-5 range. Returning is leading scorer and 2nd team All-Conference selection [player_tooltip player_id='1377753' first='Evelyn' last='Nienhuis']. Just a sophomore, the 5-8 combo guard had a terrific freshman season averaging 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and a little over 2 steals per game. Joining her are seniors Lily Herber (8.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.7 apg, 0.3 spg, 1.6 bpg) and Taylor Gahagan (5.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.6 apg, and 1.4 spg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>6. <strong>West Bend East</strong>---West Bend East, winners of just one conference game, last season, will leapfrog their intercity rivals and finish 6th this season. Having only graduated one senior, the Suns return much of their offensive production including senior [player_tooltip player_id='1824313' first='Savana' last='Tillman'] (11.1 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.0 apg, 0.9 spg, 1.5 bpg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>7. <strong>West Bend West</strong>---The Spartans were hit hard by graduation losing 8 seniors from a 2 win team that ended their season with a 44-29 loss to Watertown. Critical to help keep the team afloat will be HM All-Conference sophomores Macey Fujinaka (4.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.4 spg) and Mady Multhauf (2.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.0 apg, 0.9 spg, 1.5 bpg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
