Mystics Open Run: 2030 Talent to Watch, Part 2

The Mystics hosted their Open Run this morning at The Cage, bringing together a talented group of players from the 2030 class. The event gave the Mystics' director and coaching staff an opportunity to evaluate players as they begin the process of determining team placement for the upcoming season. After working through the evaluation process, the players competed in full-court 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action, giving them an opportunity to showcase their skills in a competitive setting. With plenty of talent on the floor, several players found ways to catch my eye. Here are some of the 2030 players who stood out during the Mystics Open Run.      Julia showed a strong combination of athleticism, scoring, and rebounding during the Mystics Open Run. In the 3-on-3 action, the long and athletic guard consistently tracked down rebounds, showing a great feel for reading the ball off the rim, and she added a nice floater to her scoring. Her attacking ability stood out even more during 5-on-5, where she repeatedly got downhill and put pressure on the defense while also knocking down shots from beyond the arc. Julia also used her length to make an impact defensively, making her a player who stood out throughout the morning.     Lily brought a combination of speed, toughness, and defensive activity to the Mystics Open Run. During the 3-on-3 action, the guard consistently attacked the basket and finished through contact, showing she wasn't afraid to play through physical defense. She also pushed the pace with her head up and showed good awareness in transition. That intensity carried into the 5-on-5, where Lily knocked down shots from beyond the arc and came away with numerous steals. Her ability to pressure the defense offensively while creating turnovers on the other end made for a strong showing.     Lexi showed plenty of versatility throughout the Mystics Open Run. During the 3-on-3 action, the guard made a strong slash to the basket, catching the ball in traffic and finishing at the rim, while also making an impact defensively with a block. Her ability to use her size and footwork stood out during 5-on-5, where she posted up a smaller defender, sealed her position, and finished with good footwork around the basket. Lexi also stayed active on the offensive glass, coming away with several offensive rebounds and converting one into a putback. Her ability to score in different ways and contribute on the glass made for a strong showing.       Elizabeth showed a strong offensive skill set throughout the Mystics Open Run. The guard has tight handles and uses her quickness and change of direction to create space from defenders. She consistently attacked the basket with purpose and also showed her shooting range by knocking down a three from the top of the key. Her ability to create off the dribble while also stretching the floor made for a strong showing.     Gianna showed a nice balance of perimeter scoring and activity on the glass during the Mystics Open Run. The guard knocked down shots from beyond the arc while also doing a good job tracking down rebounds and creating second-chance opportunities. She came away with several offensive boards and converted some of them into putbacks, showing she can contribute in multiple areas. Her ability to stretch the floor and stay active around the basket made for a solid showing at The Cage.
