Fresh off an open run fireworks display, Lily continued to make her mark at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, making a lasting impression on college coaches in the process. Her vision, crafty handles, effectiveness as a facilitator, and sharpshooting from three stood out. Lily couldn’t miss during the three-on-three segment. She put the pedal to the metal during games with Team 8. One of her wow moments happened after she secured a defensive rebound, accelerated up the court in top gear, drove to the basket with a full head of steam, and went up strong to score a terrific and-one scoop layup. Lily contributed mightily as a rebounder, closed out hard to block a shot on the defensive end, created steals, ripped the nets from three, and made finishing with her inside hand look easy. She was one of the most complete players in the gym.

Lily had me on the edge of my seat at Mystics Open Run on Thursday. She put on a fireworks display from beyond the arc. I always say that I want a shot maker, not a shot taker. Efficiency is the mark of a great shooter. Lily went on a stretch where she hit 7 of 8 attempts, with several coming from the mid-corners on both sides of the court, corners, deep wing shots, and a straightaway bomb. Beyond shooting, Lily impacted games with her vision, firing crisp passes to open teammates across the court and dump-offs on the move for assists. She scored a sweet scoop finish layup with pace, chased down an offensive rebound, then went up off two for the finish. Freeland is adding a dynamic duo to their backcourt, and Deshone will be a complete point guard to watch at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Lily brought a combination of speed, toughness, and defensive activity to the Mystics Open Run. During the 3-on-3 action, the guard consistently attacked the basket and finished through contact, showing she wasn’t afraid to play through physical defense. She also pushed the pace with her head up and showed good awareness in transition. That intensity carried into the 5-on-5, where Lily knocked down shots from beyond the arc and came away with numerous steals. Her ability to pressure the defense offensively while creating turnovers on the other end made for a strong showing.

I love to watch guards post up with the ball inside and score against a forward with a 6-7 inch advantage!  Beautiful footwork, knows how to protect the ball, strong handles!  Lily plays smart basketball- and she certainly knows a thing or two about knocking down 3’s! She’s clutch from downtown!

Lily, competing with Team Liberty at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase, showed she can be a dependable guard who impacts the game in multiple ways. On the defensive end, she was active and disruptive, using quick hands and strong instincts to come away with several steals. Offensively, she displayed a tight handle highlighted by a confident crossover that helped her get by defenders, along with a solid baseline drive and the ability to stay under control when attacking the lane. She also showed good awareness as a passer, keeping her head up and delivering well-timed passes to teammates. Overall, Lily put together a steady, well-rounded performance and contributed in a variety of positive ways throughout the session.
