After a strong AAU season with Mystics P24, Julia continued to separate herself at elite camps, open runs, and the Freshman Showcase. Her length translates to the higher levels as a guard; she’s athletic and has advanced polish to her game. Julia has excellent footwork in the paint, finishes with balance, strength, and touch around the basket, rips the nets from three, facilitates, and competes with endless energy that makes her a stat stuffer in every category. A Top Performer at the Freshman Showcase, I’m calling my shot now that Julia will be All-League in the TVC. She’s a big piece of the puzzle and why Freeland is a D2 contender.

Julia looks like one of the top guards in this class. She has good length, athleticism, a non-stop motor, sees the floor, fights through screens, sees ball and man on defense, has a deadly shot from beyond the arc, and advanced fundamentals for her age. Julia was expected to stand out at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, and that’s exactly what she did with Team 6. Her highlights included plays in every phase. She caught a pass with soft hands for a quick finish off a smooth transfer, scored a strong and-one bucket through contact, and completed the three-point play at the line. Julia buried a triple from the wing and knocked down another off the bounce from the slot. She showed her wheels in the open court after snagging a defensive rebound and took it coast-to-coast for a 94-foot finish. Julia showed her sharp instincts on the defensive end and poked the ball away for a steal. She knocked down a pull-up jumper from the elbow and demonstrated poise with the ball, not forcing the issue, and waiting for the right moment to attack on the offensive end. Freeland is going to be a force in Division Two this winter with plenty of firepower in their backcourt.

Julia has good length at the guard spot, athleticism, polished fundamental skills, is a multidimensional impact player, and adds a sweet stroke from beyond the arc, which is one of the reasons Freeland should be extremely excited about the upcoming season. She’s a sharpshooter, works hard on the defensive end, chases down rebounds, causes a disruption at the top of the press, and actively moves off the ball. Julia is a prospect with a high ceiling in this class, and she’s on watch for a huge day at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Julia showed a strong combination of athleticism, scoring, and rebounding during the Mystics Open Run. In the 3-on-3 action, the long and athletic guard consistently tracked down rebounds, showing a great feel for reading the ball off the rim, and she added a nice floater to her scoring. Her attacking ability stood out even more during 5-on-5, where she repeatedly got downhill and put pressure on the defense while also knocking down shots from beyond the arc. Julia also used her length to make an impact defensively, making her a player who stood out throughout the morning.

Julia was one of the youngest players at the Northwood Elite Camp, but she certainly didn’t look out of place competing against older players. The 2030 guard showed confidence from beyond the arc during both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action, knocking down threes and proving she can stretch the floor. Julia also showed a strong defensive presence with active hands that led to steals. She ran the floor hard in transition and was rewarded with a bucket, while also showing her ability to attack the basket with a nice slash and finish during 3-on-3 play. Her willingness to compete up in age and make plays on both ends made Julia one of the young standouts who caught my attention at camp.

Julia, a freshman guard for Freeland, proved to be a strong addition to an already talented backcourt during Sunday’s action at the Northwood Team Camp. She showed an ability to space the floor by knocking down shots from beyond the arc and also displayed confidence attacking off the dribble, finishing well on slashing drives to the rim. With the ball in her hands, she played with composure and poise beyond her years, making solid decisions in the flow of the offense. Julia also made her presence felt on the glass and competed hard defensively, showing a tough, physical edge on that end of the floor. Her all-around effort gives Freeland another promising piece moving forward.

A young and talented squad that brings back the bulk of last year’s core is about to get better. Freeland adds another outstanding guard talent to their backcourt with Julia joining the ranks. She’s a sniper from three-point distance, handles the ball well with both hands, has some length, works hard to contribute as a rebounder, disrupts shots, and doesn’t shy away from contact when she drives to the rim. Julia’s demonstrated confidence and poise while playing up on the PGH Circuit for Mystics P24. I expect varsity basketball to be a seamless transition for the freshman.

Julia will be a very talented guard prospect to pay attention to for Mystics 14U Select at the PGH MI College Tour. She competes with a relentless motor, is a sharpshooter from beyond the arc, and can penetrate off the dribble to create open looks for herself and teammates. Julia’s active defense produces turnovers and easy points for the team.

Julia delivered an impressive all-around performance for the Mystics, making her mark in multiple areas of the game. The guard showed confidence in her jumper, spacing the floor and knocking down shots when given room. She also mixed in strong rebounding efforts, crashing the glass and securing possessions against bigger players. Defensively, Julia relied on sharp instincts to read plays, coming up with key stops and even swatting away a couple of shots. Those defensive plays quickly turned into offense, as she pushed the ball the length of the floor and finished through contact on one memorable drive for a three-point play. Her ability to impact the game on both ends stood out throughout the day.
