Everyone that is featured below is someone that ranked within the Top 10 for their Class level for Effective Field Goal Percentage last season. To simplify things: The Effective Field Goal Percentage (eFG%) formula is
(FGM + 0.5 * 3PM) / FGA
, according to the NBA/WNBA.

Why is this important? "A standard field goal percentage treats a 3-pointer the same as a 2-pointer. The eFG% formula adds an extra 0.5 weight to every made 3-pointer. This adjustment makes 3-pointers worth 1.5 times as much as 2-pointers in the calculation, accurately reflecting their true point value." - Breakthrough Basketball

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

Jameson will take the floor this season as one of the Top Five players in Effective Field Goal Percentage within the 5A Class returning from last year. She will have a lot of the same opportunities this season as she did when she was a Freshman because of where she will be situated on the court physically and who will be returning around her. She will have seasoned Guard play starting next to her, that could win them the game when they are feeling it so a lot of the pressure she would usually receive from the opponent won't be possible. If defenses overcommit to her in the middle, she can dish it out for an Assist or even score over multiple defenders because of her natural size advantage. Last season she shot the ball at an EFG% of 65%, demonstrating to any opponent that if you let her catch close to the hoop, it's most likely going to end with an easy bucket for the offense.

Sadie "The Silent Killer" McCann has always been a prospect that silently kills her opponents. We have seen it for years now on the Varsity high school and AAU floor on the road. You might not notice it throughout but after a ball game when you look at the stat sheet and look under McCann's name - you see that she showed up in every positive statistical category, more than once. As an offensive weapon McCann shot the ball at an EFG% of 63%, ranking her within the Top Five of the 5A Class last Winter. Waukee Northwest is loaded with D1/D2 prospects all over their rosters at the high school level and McCann showed out as the most effective. I think that says something. She might not be about the flash or the loud moments but she produces against some of the best competition in the Country each season and that's going to get her to the next level at the end of her high school career.

Decorah High School finished the 2025-2026 high school season with a 15-8 record. They were led by their star guard - Claire Storhoff but someone else that showed up for them every time they played was 2028 Center - Grace Tangen. Tangen ranked #6th in the 4A Class in EFG% at 61.9%. That puts only two others above her within this Class that will be returning this Winter season. Tangen would be considered an "undersized" Center. She is 5'10 but she plays a lot bigger than that with how well she covers so much space in such a short amount of time. If this group wants to make a run this Winter at a 4A State Title, they will need to have all hands on deck - competing with full confidence and that includes Tangen in the middle.

It's going to be another memorable season for Diedra Doeden of Cherokee Washington High School as a Senior. Doeden has been a force to note over the last 18 months. We didn't know about too much about her prior to high school but she has proven that she is one of the harder players to contain within the state. She stands right at 6'1 and she has the muscle mass to pair with it so she can bully anyone it between the blocks. Not to mention, she is crafty when she needs to be. She can counter into other moves if she is cut off and still finish the play. As a Junior, Doeden recorded an EFG% of 61.1%. That's pretty darn good. If she has any say about it this year, I'm sure that number will be even higher as she tries to help lead her Varsity program to the 3A State Tournament.

As we have been looking back at last season as a whole, we have noticed that Kaylee Webb of West Burlington is a name that continues to pop up in the categories of being effective and posting impressive stat lines. Webb is the type that basically led her program last Winter in every positive statistical category you can think of. She finished off the season with a 64 eFG%, ranking herself in the Top 2 within the 2A Class and she will be looking for more this season as a Junior. She is going to have a lot on her plate but that's a good thing. If she can make it work, it'll be even more impressive at the end of the day.
