You can’t put it in words or explain it but McCann makes some tough plays on both ends of the floor. She is maybe the most efficient scoring threat out of this Top Five as a whole, she defends at a high rate which turns into steals and buckets down on the other end, and most importantly – she plays the game the right way. She swings the ball, moves, and rotates. She moves into open space when things get too crammed in one area and she is extremely adaptable. We have seen Waukee NW do their thing the past few years and I’m expect to see more of that this upcoming winter. If players like McCann hold their own like they should, they are going to be a program that is hard to beat for years to come.

It’s nice to see Sadie McCann Sadie McCann 5'10" | CG Waukee NW | 2028 State IA stepping up to play to her full capabilities as of late for the Wolves of Waukee NW. McCann led her group with 15 points (6/10), 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in her team’s 41 point W yesterday. She made simple work of the Pleasant Valley defense, navigating around for success on both sides of the ball, eventually making plays with ease. McCann is known as a multiple-level scoring CG with great efficiency and smarts so it comes as no surprise to those who have seen her play for a National AAU Title the past few years. The Wolves are one of those team’s that could make a run during the next week if they play their cards right. If they take care of business and their prospects like McCann do their thing, they are going to be in a great spot moving into the end of next week when it comes to the Semi’s and Finals.

Coming in at #4 in this Update is Sadie McCann Sadie McCann 5'10" | CG Waukee NW | 2028 State IA of Waukee NW High School. McCann is somewhat slept on a little bit. She isn’t Waukee NW’s main producer offensively so some people think that she doesn’t contribute much but that couldn’t be further from the truth. McCann is one of the most efficient prospects that this roster possesses. When her AAU team made their National Title run this Spring, McCann was considered for the MVP as she was always making a game-winning play when it mattered the most. This is an important Winter for all prospect out of the 2028 Class. This group has to show that their won’t be a Sophomore slump and McCan is doing a good job of that so far.

The underclassmen group at Waukee NW is somewhat overshadowed but let me tell ya, they can PLAY. Someone that I expect to make a big impact this season is Sadie McCann Sadie McCann 5'10" | CG Waukee NW | 2028 State IA at the CG spot. McCann has an odd game. She just makes plays happen. She is extremely efficient and she is very smart when it comes to knowing when to do what out on the hardwood. She might not be the one to average 20 & 10 but she is going to be a major piece to the Wolves puzzle as they attempt to bring home a 5A State Title. The best part? While this happens McCann isn’t the type to force unneeded action. She will take what the defense gives her and work from there. Something you love to see out of a prospect from the young high school grade levels.

What we do know is that she possesses a ton of promise, while being a hooper that is always ready to make something happen with the ball in her hands. This is just one of those players that doesn’t force anything crazy and she always seems to make the right play. She is a prospect with great coordination, feel for the game, with a willingness to adapt in any given moment. Waukee NW is going to shock a lot of programs this Winter with how well they play and McCann is going to have a big part in that.

Waukee NW surprised a lot of people last Winter as they made the 5A State Tournament but this is something everyone should get used to because the Wolves are loaded up again to run it back for years to come. She can make things happen in the blink of an eye when the clock is dwindling down, no matter who is matched up against her. If this past twelve months has been any indication, this is someone to know if you don’t already.

McCann just makes things happen out of no where. It’s intriguing. When you look at her from a scouting perspective, she has better than average size for her position at 5’10, she has an act for getting to the bucket off the dribble for a sweet finish, and she has a tricky first-step while making any sort of move. I’ve had the chance to sit down and see McCann a couple times these last few weeks. Each time she is making a smart play and either getting to the line or she is helping the others around succeed. As a freshman, she put together a rememberable season and now she is looking to stack onto that with her AIA program this Spring.

Waukee NW is going to be on the rise over the next few seasons and that became obvious last Winter with who they brought to the Varsity floor. This time around, another player who should be impactful to some degree at the Varsity level at the guard position is their Freshman – Sadie McCann Sadie McCann 5'10" | CG Waukee NW | 2028 State IA . McCann is an elite athlete with a high motor, a better than average ability to rebound the ball, and she always seems to come up in big moments for whoever she is lacing up with. Like everyone else in this article, her progression will play a huge role moving forward but at this time, she comes in at our #4 spot for her 2028 Class.
