I really hope that Deidra Doeden ends up playing Basketball at the collegiate level once she gets there. She is good enough as a 6’1 Center, to be able to help several programs across the Midwest at a few different Division levels. Doeden popped onto the scene at the start of her Sophomore year. That’s when she really started to produce at an undeniable rate. If you are talking about what she can bring to the floor, it’s size, dedication to the game, soft hands, coordinated footwork, and a great passing ability whenever she is overloaded with defenders in her space. I feel like this is a player that most coaches are going to sleep on but you shouldn’t. She knows what she is doing and she has really only hit the tip of the iceberg.

We saw a lot of good things out of Doeden this Winter. This is a prospect that came on last season in a big way. She helped her Cherokee Washington program to a solid overall record and she follows that up with another successful season this past few months. Doeden does a valid job of owning the middle of the lane. She stands at 6’1 and she is the type that likes to do her work early on within a possession. She likes to beat her opponent down the floor and if not she can use her size to out-muscle whoever is standing across from her. Coming in as the state’s 3rd best Center at this point in the game is noteworthy. Now it’s just all about how she can build onto her game moving forward.

If you are examining the Post prospects out of the 2027 Class within Iowa, someone that has slowly gained recognition is Deidra Doeden Deidra Doeden 6'1" | C Cherokee Washington | 2027 State IA of Cherokee Washington High School. Doeden first jumped into our radar last season. She was a name we mentioned several times as someone to note because she has natural size and she always happens to show up when her team needs her near the hoop on both offense and defense. She might not be the type to always score high amounts but she still controls the traffic by the rim as it pertains to pace of play and rebounding. On Saturday, Doeden did some work and ended with 15 boards, 3 being on the offensive end. These types of numbers matter in a barn burner, that was only a 1-point game moving into the 4th quarter. When it’s that narrow, everything possession matters.

My final double-double machine is Deidra Doeden Deidra Doeden 6'1" | C Cherokee Washington | 2027 State IA out of western Iowa. Cherokee Washington High School is rolling this season, and part of their success should be attributed to Doeden’s production on both sides of the floor. She’s averaging 16.4 points and 12.9 rebounds for the 16-3 Braves squad and is extremely efficient with the ball her hands. She’s scoring 52% of the shots she takes this year while crashing the boards for extra opportunities at the rim (averaging 5.6 offensive rebounds per game). She’s also a menace in the paint, where she averages 2 blocks per game. In short, if you need a bucket, a board or a block, you can rely on Deidra Doeden Deidra Doeden 6'1" | C Cherokee Washington | 2027 State IA .

had a convincing showing in her Cherokee Washington High School team’s first game of the season when she posted a 20 points, double-double in points-rebounds (22 & 11). Doeden, the 6’1 Center, is a force to deal with in the between the blocks if you couldn’t tell. If you look at the program she is in and who they have to play during their regular season, you notice that Doeden should CLEAN up against the individuals that will try to stand in her way. She will be the biggest, she will be the most physical, she will be the strongest. Those three things will carry her and her team to a lot of success for the rest of her high school career. Not to mention, this group also possesses one of the best guards within their conference in 2027 –

so to try to stop both is going to be really tough but #9 -Emmetsburg will look to do just that on Tuesday evening when they face off against the Braves.

Don’t get it twisted. The guard play for Cherokee Washington High School is what has led them in recent history but their force in the middle also deserves some credit in Deidra Doeden Deidra Doeden 6'1" | C Cherokee Washington | 2027 State IA . Doeden, a 6’1 Center, is usually the tallest and most dominate prospect on the floor at any given moment. There really aren’t many times when she is the undersized Center or Forward within a situation and that helps Cherokee Washington control the middle of the paint each night. With a force like this cleaning up the glass, defending, and scoring thoroughly, while they also have a very talented PG/CG to lead them down the floor and you start to see why they win so many contests. This team is another that should have a good shot at making it back to the State Tournament. If they continue to improve from last season, they will be in a great shape competitively.

The main force on the glass in this one for Cherokee Washington was their usual producer in that category in Center, Deidra Doeden Deidra Doeden 6'1" | C Cherokee Washington | 2027 State IA . Doeden actually recorded 12 points on over 50% shooting, along with rebounding the ball 20 time throughout the evening. Any time someone grabbed 20 rebounds during a regulation game within 32 minutes, it’s impressive. Without this effort, you can easily say that the Braves would not of been close in this contest. They also wouldn’t be 18-3 this Winter without her play each game. She is someone that other opponents MUST worry about at 6’1. If not, it’s a layup line and a blowout for the Braves.

The main rebounding source for the Braves in recent past has been Deidra Doeden Deidra Doeden 6'1" | C Cherokee Washington | 2027 State IA . Doeden, a 6’1 Center, does her job of controlling the paint and letting her presence be known inside the middle of the lane. Doeden is averaging over double-digits in RPG, along with registering some other positive stats each night as well. When there is a missed shot attempt or someone looking to attack the paint, Doeden is usually there, ready to give it her all. Like I said above, this Braves team is 11-2 and they aren’t looking to slow down any time soon.
