Six Teams, Six MVPs at Alma Elite Camp

The Alma Elite Camp took place Sunday afternoon and was a well-run and organized event from start to finish. Coach Sami explained each drill before the college players demonstrated the skills and techniques, giving campers a clear example before putting them into action. The camp featured a variety of skill work and competitions before wrapping up with competitive 5-on-5 scrimmages. The players were divided into six teams, each coached by college players, and I asked each coach to select an MVP from their team based on their performance throughout the camp. Here are the six players who earned MVP honors.    Jaynie, a guard on Team 1 coached by Molly and Em, was selected as the team's MVP after putting together an impressive performance at the Alma Elite Camp. An Alma College commit, Jaynie gave Coach Sami plenty to be excited about with the way she performed throughout the afternoon. During the drill work, she knocked down shots during the shooting portion while also showcasing strong ball-handling and finishing ability. She carried that momentum into the 5-on-5 action, where she showed she can score at all three levels and consistently found herself in the right position defensively. Jaynie also ran the floor hard in transition, turning her speed and effort into scoring opportunities. Her all-around performance made her a clear choice for Team 1's MVP.     Leah, a guard for Team 2 coached by Mady and Meg, earned team MVP honors after standing out throughout the Alma Elite Camp. She was a leader during the drill work, consistently making her presence felt and performing well at each station. That strong play carried over into the 5-on-5 action, where Leah showcased her speed and quick first step to create scoring opportunities. She knocked down multiple shots from beyond the arc and repeatedly used her speed to turn steals into coast-to-coast baskets. Leah also displayed a nice touch in the lane, finishing with a floater on multiple occasions. On the defensive end, she was active and tough to get past, adding another dimension to an impressive all-around performance.     Audrey, a guard for Team 3 coached by Noelle, was selected as her team's MVP after a strong showing at the Alma Elite Camp. She handled the point with poise throughout the 5-on-5 action, making smart decisions and keeping the offense moving. Audrey showed the ability to create her own offense, knocking down a pull-up jumper and using her quickness to get downhill and attack the lane. She also displayed good court vision with an excellent pass in transition that created a scoring opportunity. On the defensive end, Audrey was a tough matchup, applying pressure and coming away with several steals. Her combination of composure, playmaking, and defensive intensity made her a deserving MVP selection.     Delaney, a guard for Team 4 coached by Reese, earned team MVP honors after an impressive showing at the Alma Elite Camp. She excelled during the drill work, particularly at the ball-handling and finishing station, where she showcased her skill and confidence with the ball. That translated into the 5-on-5 action, where Delaney displayed excellent court vision and consistently made quality passes, especially in transition. She used a quick crossover to get by defenders and create scoring opportunities, while also showing her range by knocking down shots from beyond the arc and connecting on a mid-range jumper. Her combination of ball skills, playmaking, and scoring ability made her a well-deserved MVP selection for Team 4.     Addy, a guard for Team 5 coached by Tae, was selected as the team's MVP after an impressive showing at the Alma Elite Camp. Addy competed in a different gym during the 5-on-5 portion, so I didn't get the opportunity to see her in live action, but she certainly caught my attention during the skill work and drills. During the 4 Down and Alabama drills, she showed a strong ability to get downhill and score with ease, using her strength to create advantages. Defensively, Addy was a menace, applying pressure and making it difficult for others to get comfortable. She also shot the ball well during the shooting stations and displayed excellent footwork during the finishing portion. Coach Tae selected Addy as Team 5's MVP following the camp.     Sofia, who played for Team 6 coached by KJ, was selected as the team's MVP after a strong showing at the Alma Elite Camp. Sofia competed in a different gym during the 5-on-5 portion, so I didn't get the opportunity to watch her in live action, but she made a strong impression during the skill work and drills. She shot the ball well during the shooting station while also showcasing good ball-handling and finishing ability. During the drills, Sofia was active defensively and showed she could get downhill and finish through traffic. Her performance throughout the afternoon earned her Team 6 MVP honors, as selected by Coach KJ.
