Sophomore ID Camp: Team 3 Recap

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Sophomore ID Camp is always one of my favorite events because it is strictly about development and seeing what players have added to their game. Watching players come back from year one and show growth in different areas shows us this basketball thing is serious to them. With multiple 5v5 games to evaluate, we also get a good look at who can consistently impact the game through scoring, defense, playmaking, and making the right plays. Below is a quick snapshot of what the players from Team 3 showed us this past Sunday.</h3>    The best thing that stood out to me was Job's need to be an in your face defender. She picked up full court, caused constant disruption, and made things uncomfortable for her matchup. As her offensive game grows, that defensive mindset will keep her impactful.     Corry has definitely improved her game over the past year, and you can see it in how she moves with the ball. She has pace and can speed things up without hesitation. Her handle is strong, and she knows how to get to her spots. The confidence and control she plays with now really show how much her game has grown. A definite guard to watch. High upside.     A ton of effort was shown in the games I watched Liliana play. With her team being full of high level scorers and ball handlers, she found her way to still be impactful. She constantly moved and kept her head up for the next pass when she got the ball. Her ability to stay involved without needing many touches stood out.     Her game is smooth, patient, and intentional. She has all the skill to be a two way threat, and as the defensive end of the court continues to grow, she will cause a lot of problems for matchups. This high school season will be a big tell on whether her game has grown enough for her to become a more complete guard in this class.     A ball hawk and a player who always finds herself near the ball. Butler doesn't take any possessions off, and when she has the ball in her hands, it's most likely going to lead to a good decision. She is creative around the basket as well and does a good job finding ways to finish even when the first look isn't there. Her activity and feel for the game continue to stand out.     If you're down three, swing the ball to Eden. She's a player that will take the big shot with no hesitation. That confidence is a major part of what makes her stand out, but for her to continue being a player to watch in this class, she'll need to keep adding to the areas around the shot making. Becoming more consistent as a creator, tightening the handle, and finding more ways to impact the game when the shot isn't falling will be important.     The skill set is wide-ranging, and she has the length to be a lockdown defender as well. She has all the potential to be a legit three level scorer, and the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways. I believe over time she will become one of the top players in this class, especially as she continues to grow into everything she can already do.
