This weekend I started surfing around the internet and checked out some of the top stat leaders from last season. In this article we cover five prospects who held their own and led their High School programs with some big time production throughout the Winter. The hope is that these hoopers can build off of what they set in place last season, making this upcoming one even better.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

There is multiple ways that leaders can guide their team when they compete. They can do it vocally, leading by their voice and the stern direction they give. It could be by action, leading the group by example. Riley Johnson of Roland-Story does both. She is a vocal leader that her team can look to for direction when things get tight. She always puts her play where her mouth is. She is productive in almost every facet of the game. As a Junior - she led her team to a 17-6 overall record while averaging 14 PPG, 6 RPG, and 4 APG as their starting PG. She only averaged around 1.9 TPG, giving her a +2 Assist-to-Turnover ratio. One of the better ratio's throughout the state as a whole on the season. Johnson will be back for her Senior season these next few months and she is ready to pick up right where she left off last year.

After scoring 13 PPG and securing 8 RPG as a Junior, Kenzley Bruck is hoping that she can keep up her top end production under the basket. Bruck doesn't get seen too often where she plays out of and that is why some might not recognize the name. Bruck takes the floor as a 6'2 Center, who primarily works in between the blocks inside the paint each contest. Offensively, she is usually too tall to handle for most opponents to deal with. She eats up space and the glass with her presence alone and can score over multiple defenders if need be. Defensively, her mixture of reach and quick thinking makes her someone to note whenever you are looking to go get a bucket at the rim because she will most likely be there to meet you each time. Bruck has a foundation in this game and the natural size. If she continues to work on her game and she puts together another productive season this Winter, she could end up at the college level around the Midwest, if she were so interested.

Everyone should watch out for Cedar Falls High School the next few years. This season they should have a Senior leader in Taylor Vore taking over. She will be paired with some really talented Underclassmen and that could lead to a nasty combination out on the hardwood once the Winter begins. Vore returns this Winter as one of her team's Top 3 producers as a whole as a Junior. The only individuals in front of her in these stat categories graduated in the Spring so now it's time for her to shine for these next eight months before going off to college. Vore brings a better than average shooting stroke from the field, she can finish at the bucket when she gets downhill, she rebounds at a through rate - demonstrating that she cares about the little things, and she isn't a slouch on defense. As a potential future recruit for the next level Vore can do some things so it'll be interesting to see where she might end up.

Sydney Feldhacker was the pulse of Dubuque Hempstead last season as a Junior at the SF/CG spot. Feldhacker did her job with efficiency on both offense and defense, which led her to a successful individual stat line throughout the Winter as a whole. This Winter Feldhacker returns with vengeance on her mind. She is going to look to dominate anyone that stands in her way. She will use her swift movements and soft touch on the ball to fool even the best of defenders, finishing at the hoop in a plethora of different ways. We will need to see Feldhacker more this season to really tap into what her consistent movements are when she plays but number never lie and she had some noteworthy numbers throughout her career so far.

Celia Scherr wasn't the leader for her Wahlert Catholic team last season with their star Freshman Emily Tanny taking over that role but Scherr was one of her team's, "Big 3", and she should be in that same position throughout her Junior season. Tanny is going to bring a lot of attention, that is going to free up Scherr to have some big moments and some even bigger games as a whole. She is a competitor, who has a fundamental grasp on the game. She can work the X's and O's within her team's system to a T or she can run 5-0 and mix things up with her next-level movement in both the half court and in transition. We are going to have a chance to see Scherr up close this Fall at our PGH Showcase in October. I'm going to be looking to find out how Scherr competes against some of the best players in the state at this event. From everything we have watched so far, I'm sure she is going to kill it. She just had to play with confidence.
