If you are looking for a hooper that is leading her team in almost every positive statistical category from the guard position then look no further than Riley Johnson Riley Johnson PG Roland-Story | 2027 IA of Roland Story. Johnson isn’t just leading her team in all of those categories, she is dominating these categories in reality. She is in front by a good margin in each and that speaks to what she can bring to the table when she is playing with confidence. Johnson ties everything together and that’s what has kept this group so tight up until this point. She is consistently putting up impactful numbers as she tries to tie together an impressive Junior year. If she stays on this track, she will finish off things with one of the more complete year’s throughout the state as an individual as she helps her team continue to win as they currently sit at 15-3.

Riley Johnson Riley Johnson PG Roland-Story | 2027 IA had her handprints all over this game and is a flat-out battler. There is lots to like about the 5’8″ guard, but my favorite might be her work rate. She only knows one speed (fast), and used her change of speed to get to the rim countless times last night (including a slick double-crossover). She uses great body positioning to slice through help defenders, protect the ball, and absorb contact in the lane. She also drained a flurry of three pointers throughout the night. When a knock to the face looked to take her out of the game late in the fourth, she was back in off the bench in no time. She also displayed her athleticism on defense by picking the pockets of a few Clear Lake guards — she just never seemed to get tired. Hats off to a valiant effort from Johnson last night.

Riley Johnston of Roland-Story High School is set up to put together an impressive Winter ahead on the hardwood. Johnson helped the Norsemen to an overall 22-3 record last Winter, going 15-1 in Conference while averaging 10 PPG, 4 RPG, and 5 APG. These numbers are noteworthy and she should be even better over the next six months. The Norseman will lose their other two main Senior producers from year’s past so now a lot of those opportunities will be given to Johnson. She will be in charge of getting all those around her into successful positions as she handles and orchestrates her team’s system. She will also be looked upon to score a little bit more often than in the past. Johnson is a PG with nice touch, a quick crossover, and solid vision in the full and half-courts. She understands her own ability and how to get leverage when attacking a weak defense, which leads to a lot of success as a scorer and passer in general. Now we just have to wait and see how she does when she is given the keys to take over the next two years.

Roland-Story comes into the end of January with an 11-2 overall record and they are looking to continue with that success moving forward. Someone for The Norseman that has stepped up for her sophomore season has been PG – Riley Johnson Riley Johnson PG Roland-Story | 2027 IA . Johnson is the team leader in APG while having a +1.6 assists-to-turnover ratio so far. She is also putting up 10.2 PPG and 4.5 RPG in the same efforts. What I like about Johnson the best is that she is a true guard with adaptability and a smart head on her shoulders. She understands what she does best and what her teammates around her do best, usually always making the right decision with the basketball. This season has been a coming out party for Johnson in a lot of ways and it’s really only just the beginning.
