About once a year I like to go through various areas of the state and highlight players for different reasons. In this specific article, I wanted to focus on 6 prospects (3 in 2027, 2 in 2028, and 1 in 2029) who are either listed on the watch list, or not at all included in the rankings at the release of this article. All 6 of these prospects come from schools in Marion County, but more specifically, most are from Indianapolis.

Nyla is obviously a little undersized, but she has found opportunities by being an accurate perimeter shooter. With the combination of 2026 graduates and players transferring out of Decatur Central this Summer, she now has a chance to step into the lead guard role and showcase her entire skillset each game. She has a solid handle, good strength at her size, plus she plays with some quickness/shiftiness. She doesn't tend to force the action and runs the offense, plus she can still knock down open jumpers with regularity. Defensively, she utilizes her quickness as well.

Bra'laun transferred into Pike a year ago from Warren Central, so she's ready to contribute for the Red Devils this season. She has a long, wiry-strong, athletic frame, she plays with speed & quickness, and she has some bounce to her as well. She is a talented athlete who can be an elite on-ball defender at times. She does a really nice job of dictating which way the ball-handler goes. Offensively, she likes to turn the corner, get downhill, and attack the basket, but she has improved her touch outside as well. She can create offense with her athleticism, but I don't know that she's a true PG.

Hayden has somewhat flown under the radar throughout her career, playing on a Ben Davis team with young talent and on travel teams with additional talent around her. She strikes me as the perfect "culture" kid at the small college level, because she plays with toughness, physicality, and she makes a lot of hustle plays. She always seems to find a way onto the floor, because she adds production in areas others don't want to. At the same time, she's a solid all-around athlete, she has some ball skill, some touch outside, and she will rebound and defend with effort.

Meelena has really nice upside as a prospect, because she has an extremely long frame, she can get out and run the floor, plus she plays with a lot of bounce. She is primarily a presence at the defensive end right now, with her ability to block/affect shots in the paint. She pursues rebounds outside of her area as well, and she tries to be physical in the lane but could use a little more strength. Offensively, she is more of an opportunistic scorer who finishes dump-off passes or finds offensive rebounds to lay back in. As she continues to expand her game to the mid-post, she could be a problem.

Aubrey is a really nice talent who could develop into a capable college prospect over the next couple of seasons. She played grassroots ball as a Freshman, but I don't recall seeing her on any roster in the Spring or Summer of this year. She is another long, bouncy, and fluidly athletic front-liner. She has a little strength to her as well, but most impressively, she can get out and run, catch it in transition, and finish at the basket. I think her understanding of the game and ability to play on balance separate her from several of the other power forwards and posts in this 2028 class.

Riley had a nice start to her career in 2025-2026, averaging 10.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 55% from inside the arc for the Falcons. She possesses a great deal of length, she's likely still growing a little, and as she continues to add strength, I look for her to be even more productive/efficient at the offensive end of the floor. Riley defends with effort, and as she finishes growing, I would expect her quickness to improve as well. She has some ball skill, a little touch outside that has improved, and in time she could become a point forward type with an effective 3-point shot.
