Under the Radar Transfers That Could Make Waves

This is the era of the transfer portal on every level of organized basketball and every other sport for that matter. Kids will transfer for all type of reasons, but most of the time they are looking for a better fit and or opportunity. Here are a few transfers that I think will pay dividends for both the player and the new school.    Marlee is a big guard with a nice skill set that will help Concordia Prep immediately. She leaves Frederick High where things were a bit chaotic last season to play for coach Martez Vaughn who is in his first year at Concordia. Look for her to have the ball in her hands right away and to lead what will be a fairly young team. Great pick up for the school.     De'ja comes over from Rosedale Christian Academy which basically shut down its program after Coach Rob Long departed. She joins a successful Pikesville program that was in need of leadership and stability at the guard position with two D1 seniors departing for college. One the court she will set the tone defensively with relentless on ball pressure and help keep the team organized on offense. Off the court they are hoping she helps with some leadership.     Margot has left Eastern Tech to join St. Mary's in Annapolis, which is a program with new leadership in Coach Lou Miguel who came over from St. Timothy's. Margot provides good size and length at 6'2" and brings a nice shooting touch in the paint. She has a good feel for the game and should fit in nicely at St. Mary's.     Maggie has left Liberty in Carroll County for the bright lights in the WCAC. She'll be joining new coach Sam Caldwell at Archbishop Carroll. She's a promising wing that is impactful on both ends of the court. Her length and footwork help her lock down on the perimeter and she's very dangerous in transition as she runs the floor well and consistently. Good pickup for Carroll.     Kadence has transferred to Long Reach from Roland Park and will play big minutes in Howard County. She will have the greenlight from the jump as Coach Jocara Knight is familiar with her game from her brief stint with him this summer at Power Move. She's tough defender and a strong shooter from beyond the arc so she will get plenty of opportunities to score the ball.     Briar has left Pikesville High for St. Vincent Pallotti in the IAAM. There is an opportunity for playing time at Pallotti with the departure of two D1 frontcourt players so we will see if Briar can take advantage of the situation. She has the size and athleticism to compete. If she can improve her footwork and ball handling Pallotti could a hidden gem in the fold.
