About Kadence

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a combo guard who plays hard but controlled. I like to push the pace, get into the lane, and either finish or find my teammates for open shots. I take defense seriously and enjoy pressuring the ball, making steals, and guarding the best opponent. I also score from all 3 levels.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I play to win, not “just to have fun”. When we lose, I take it hard at first, but I see it as another opportunity to get better. I'll watch the game to see what I could’ve done better and how I can help my team improve. People say I'm funny, sarcastic, and very supportive.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

No clubs yet, but I have hobbies. I love to work out and cook healthy meals. I also love baking bread, pies, and cookies from scratch for my family. Last, I am learning to play guitar.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Basketball has helped me develop leadership, accountability, and teamwork. I focus on leading by example, staying positive, and supporting my teammates on and off the court. I believe the best teams succeed because they play for each other. Outside of basketball, I’m completing 60 hours of approved community service and am excited to invest my time in a meaningful cause.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I missed my 9th-grade season because of an injury. It was discouraging watching the game go on without me. But I didn’t let that stop me. I focused on what I could control instead of what I couldn’t, and I kept working. I trained hard, worked with a trainer to get my movement back, and came back stronger. Since then, I’ve been recognized by different sports writers for my achievements.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a competitive university where I can be pushed on and off the court every day. I’m especially interested in military academies or universities with strong ROTC programs because I’m drawn to the discipline, leadership, and service mindset that come with that environment. I want to study business or construction management, so having strong academics in those areas is important.

Another strong outing for Kadence who has been stacking them up lately. She was stellar on defense, recording 5 steals and helping to disrupt North Point’s offensive attack. She also scored a team high 19 points while shooting the ball really well from the perimeter.

Kadence exploded for 26 points against Mount Carmel on Thursday night and did most of her damage inside the arc. She knocked down a couple of threes, but there were plenty of opportunities on drives to the rim and mid range action so she took advantage accordingly.

It was good seeing Kadence return to the court from her injury. She got involved right away with an early three and she ended up with four on the day, on her way to 14 points. She made shots off the dribble and in spot up situations. On defense she was physical, and she has not lost any of her explosiveness.
