Wausau East 1-9 (7-16)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>1. <strong>Stevens Point</strong>---After ending last season, with a 69-54 loss, to Notre Dame, in the Sectional final, the class of the Wisconsin Valley, and one of the state's best teams got even better this offseason with the addition of sophomore transfer [player_tooltip player_id='1225521' first='Kennedy' last='Konkol'] from Wisconsin Rapids. The 5-10 Konkol, a 1st Team All-Conference selection a year ago, averaged 15.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.0 spg and joins returning senior and Iowa commit, [player_tooltip player_id='764935' first='Jada' last='Seubert'] (5-10, 24.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.7 apg, 4.3 spg) and junior [player_tooltip player_id='936786' first='Leah' last='Awe'] (6-2, 18.8 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.9 spg, 2.3 bpg) to form arguable the best "Big 3" in all of the state to give the Panthers a great shot at the gold ball in March.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2. <strong>DC Everest</strong>---The Evergreens, one of three teams to tie for 2nd last season, should have it all to themselves this season. Coming off of a 12 win season, that ended with a 74-10 loss to DePere in the Regional semifinal, Everest returns a nice blend of size and experience. Leading the way is 6-2 sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1241703' first='Payten' last='Marciulionis'] (11.2 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.5 bpg)). She was a 2nd Team All-conference selection. She is joined by seniors Alisa Chmielewski (5-11, 8.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg) and McKenna Bullis (5-8, 6.4 ppg, 1.6 apg, 2.2 spg). Both seniors also were All-Conference selections and will need to step up their production to hang around with Point and Marshfield this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>3. <strong>Marshfield</strong>---I can definitely see the Tigers finishing in 2nd, but for prediction purposes have them at 3rd. Graduation hit them hard, losing 6 players and 23 points per game of production, from a season that ended with a 50-39 loss to Marinette in the Regional semifinal. Top returning players include 5-10 sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1233115' first='Kennedy' last='Kolstad'] (10.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.9 bpg), 5-9 junior [player_tooltip player_id='874950' first='Natalie' last='Delany'] (7.0 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.0 spg) and 5-11 senior Lily Adler (5.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.7 apg, 0.6 spg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>4. <strong>Wisconsin Rapids</strong>---[player_tooltip player_id='1225521' first='Kennedy' last='Konkol'] may have transferred to Point but the cupboard is not completely bare for the Red Raiders. Last season ended with a 71-38 loss, to EC Memorial, in the Regional semifinal. Looking to replace Konkol's productivity will be 5-7 junior [player_tooltip player_id='1118316' first='Leondra' last='Denson'] (9.5 ppg, 1.5 apg), and seniors Ally Blanchard and Makenna Redcloud.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>5. <strong>Wausau West</strong>---I see the Warriors, winners of just one conference game, a season ago finishing in 5th this season, just ahead of crosstown rival Wausau East. Last season ended with a 59-50 loss, to EC North, in the first round. Returning are two All-Conference Honorable Mention performers in 5-7 seniors Olivia Colwell (9.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.5 apg, and Stella Olsen and their veteran experience will help keep them out of the cellar this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>6. <strong>Wausau East</strong>---2026 ended with a 70-51 loss, to Lakeland, in the first round. The Lumberjacks graduated four while top returning players include Honorable Mention All-Conference, sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='874544' first='Olivia' last='Okon'] (5-10, 10.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.3 bpg) and [player_tooltip player_id='874549' first='Elise' last='Wetzsteon'] (5-5, 8.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.4 spg).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
