I was really impressed with what I saw out of Jhordyn on Sunday. She has always been an extremely long, athletic scoring threat, especially from the 3-point line. But Sunday she looked noticeably stronger and much more aggressive off the dribble. She was literally trying to get to the rim and absorb contact on each catch for her Indiana Starz team. She was so invested in attacking the rim that I don’t even recall her shooting a perimeter jumper. Jhordyn also has the tools to become an elite on-ball defender.

Jhordyn’s athleticism, determined downhill drives, physicality, and strong finishes at the rim were impressive to watch at The Encore. She slashed to the hoop to score a floater, and powered through contact for an and-one finish off two, then completed the three-point play at the line. Jordyn went up strong in the paint, forced a foul, and buried both shots from the charity stripe. Her athleticism is off the charts, and that was most evident when I saw Jordyn cut backdoor, reel in the pass, elevate, hang in mid-air with a defender in her grill, and convert the contested bucket off the glass. She went up with both hands to swat a shot away on the defensive end and seemed to get to the basket whenever she wanted to. Jhordyn scored many layups off dribble penetration and backdoor cuts. She can impact games inside and on the perimeter.

Kokomo has several really nice returnees spread throughout all graduating classes right now, but Jhordyn is somewhat unique. She is extremely long, possibly still growing, and she’s a fluid, smooth athlete who can fill it up from the perimeter. She has nice touch, a little range, but she can also put it on the floor and seemingly glide to the basket. She has gotten a little stronger each year, and as that continues, I expect her shooting percentages to become more consistent and her ability to draw fouls to increase as well. She already has some nice tools, but she still has a lot of potential as well.

Jordyn Brown is a shooting guard who continues to impress because of her scoring ability, toughness, and overall feel for the game. The Kokomo standout knows how to create offense and has the confidence to make big plays when her team needs them most.
Brown does a great job attacking defenders off the dribble and getting to her spots offensively. She can score from the perimeter, finish around the basket, and create opportunities for herself in transition. Her aggressiveness and ability to put pressure on defenses make her a difficult matchup.
One thing that really stands out about Brown is her competitive nature. She plays hard on both ends of the floor and brings energy throughout the game. Her combination of scoring ability and toughness gives her a lot of upside moving forward. College coaches should absolutely have Brown on their list of contacts because she has the tools to continue developing into a very strong next-level player.

She plays with confidence, not afraid to let it fly from the outside. Athletic and has a good vertical, which allows her to contribute well on the boards. Gets in position, runs the floor well in transition and establishes herself in the paint with good body control at the rim.

Jhordyn was highly intriguing, and I am anxious to see how her game grows throughout high school. She is extremely long, fluidly athletic, and even somewhat bouncy. She showed a nice-looking shot from the perimeter, she created space with the bounce, and she has a pure scorer’s mentality. As she continues to get stronger, look for her to finish more consistently around the basket. She also has the length and quickness to become an elite defender.
