Florida Expo: Team 8 Evaluation

The Florida Expo was one for the ages. This was a great event to showcase the talent for the class of 2027 and 2028. It also gave the scouts a chance to see the upperclassmen that would be making the headlines in the state of Florida. There was talent in all positions, and each athlete bought their skills to the Seminole Sports Academy. Here is a closer look at Team 8.    Owens is a player that has the grit to get you the extra possessions. She is always in the gaps and passing lanes trying to create turnovers. Has the ability to get up the floor quickly while staying under control with the basketball. One of the quickest players I seen with the ball in her hands. Dives on the floor for the loose balls and true PG tendencies.     Pena is a point guard that knows how to control tempo and the game. Does a great job running the point guard position and knowing when to distribute and when to score. A player that knows how to get in the paint and finish off 2 feet at the rim which allows her to absorb the contact. Can stop on the dime for the pull up jump shot and keep you guessing on where she will score next. Next level point guard.     Wilson is gamechanger who moves well without the basketball. She knows how to use the hand off to get downhill or knock down the shot off the screen. High IQ guard that knows how to read when the defender commits to make the extra pass. A player that can score from behind the arc or get to the rim and finish with her right or left hand. Doesn't mind pressuring on defense.     Mosley can flat out shoot the basketball. She is a player with great size and a quick release which allows her to elevate over the defenders. A player that can not only shoot it but can also shoot the one dribble pull up. Her length creates advantages on both the offensive and defensive end. What impressed most is ability to not be guarded. Constantly moving and working to get open.     Jones is a ballhawk who wants to get to the basketball. A player that showed she can defend all 5 positions. High motor and energy which gets her teammates fueled to play. Hustles to all the 50/50 balls. Great on ball defense which allowed for some open court turnovers which led to easy transition buckets. Jones set the tone for her team and made sure everything she does is at full speed.     Lopez can shoot it from anywhere on the floor. A player with range for days and doesn't need much room to let it fly from behind the arc. She plays with a ton of energy on defense and is very active with her hands which allow for deflections and create turnovers. Always down and ready to shoot off the pass or dribble.     Klein is a pure shooter that does a lot of things on the perimeter. Has the ability to read the defense and score when needed. When you take away her ability to shoot the 3 ball she shows she can shoot the mid-range jump shot. Handles the ball well under pressure and has great decision-making skills.     Hess is the true definition of running rim to rim. She knows how to get up the floor and put pressure on the defense to run with her. Reads and reacts to whatever the defense is giving her. A player that makes the right reads and knows when to score. Great rebounder which allows for a few extra possessions. Hustles from start to finish and doesn't mind getting on the floor to create more possessions. Her defense is what gets her going.     Jessee was probably one of the most skilled players in the gym when it came to getting her teammates involved. A player with great size which allows her to shoot the 3 ball consistently over her defenders. She also sees the floor well and sees the one more pass to the open players. Runs the floor well and can defend without fouling by keeping her arms extended. She puts pressure on the defense to guard her as soon as she crosses half court with her ability to score at will with the ball in her hands. High IQ combo player     White was one of the best post players in the gym. Runs rim to rim and is always posting strong in the paint. A player that knows all about getting the right position to score at the rim. She is a walking double double who passes well outside of the paint. Can finish at the rim on both sides and can guard outside on the perimeter if needed. Her go to move is the inside shoulder finish.
