PGH 5-on-5 Freshman Showcase: Team 4 Delivers Full-Court Effort.

The transition to the 5-on-5 format at the Freshman Showcase let players showcase their skill sets in a structured team environment. Team 4 stood out through exceptional execution in transition offense, physical rebounding, and perimeter shooting.  Team 4 constantly pushed the pace and made a lasting impression on scouts (ME) and coaches alike.    [player_tooltip player_id='1920889' first='Aylah' last='Boyd'] shot the lights out and is in the top two players that I evaluated in the 5-on-5 contest. Aylah provided elite floor spacing by turning in an absolute shooting clinic from behind the three-point line. While she had a couple of early fast-break layups rim out, she stayed highly confident and caught fire from deep, hitting three consecutive three-pointers to blow the game open. Her mid-range must be respected as she nailed a couple of them on her way to domination. On top of her outside sharpshooting, Boyd was incredibly disruptive on the defensive end, reading passing lanes beautifully to rack up back-to-back steals. She was diving on the floor for 50/50 balls. Spectacular performance. [player_tooltip player_id='1920889' first='Aylah' last='Boyd'] will be an asset to her high school team, and she is definitely THAT GIRL!       I gave [player_tooltip player_id='1848090' first='Eden' last='Huckaby'] the nickname “The Air Traffic Controller.” To be completely honest, most showcases aren't packed with wall-to-wall action, and I was in a daze until I heard Huckaby's voice lighting up the court. “Screen right, Screen Left, I got your back, backside!” Very few players communicate competently during showcase games, but Huckaby took it to an entirely different level, dictating the offensive and defensive flow with absolute poise. Her high basketball IQ and elite communication make it easy to see her on the sidelines coaching after her playing days.   On the floor, Huckaby showed tight ball-handling, an excellent understanding of the give-and-go game, and great court awareness. Offensively, she was an efficient scorer, knocking down a smooth three-pointer and capping off a stellar showcase performance with a beautiful reverse layup. Heads up to the club teams in Dallas: she is an unattached player who demonstrates that the best ability is availability. She will play any position on the court and would be an immediate asset to a structured program.       [player_tooltip player_id='1845062' first='Kamille' last='Bell'] brought elite energy to both ends of the floor, turning defensive rebounds directly into instant offense. Bell proved to be an absolute force on the glass, routinely pulling down hard-fought boards and driving the length of the court for smooth, coast-to-coast scores. She showed great physical toughness by finishing strong inside for a tough and-1 bucket, while also displaying a premier transition game with deep outlet passes up the floor. Her court vision is exceptional, delivering several pinpoint passes to teammates in stride, and she backs up her offensive production with rock-solid defense.       [player_tooltip player_id='1226996' first='Aubriana' last='Dorsey'] put together a brilliant offensive showcase by attacking the opposing defense from the paint and behind the arc. Coming back strong from an injury, she didn't skip a beat on the glass, beating her opponents for rebounds on consecutive possessions. Dorsey also lit it up from long range by sinking a smooth three-pointer.  It was one of those…get it out the net type of shot. She was equally dangerous attacking the lane, converting a tough pair of layups and drawing contact to get to the free-throw line. Defensively, she was rock-solid, strengthening her performance with high-energy effort on both ends of the court.       [player_tooltip player_id='1225876' first='Lyric' last='Dominique'] stood out with her persistent ability to pressure the defense by attacking the paint. She excelled at staying low and driving hard to the basket, forcing the defense to collapse and creating a great drive-and-kick pass to an open teammate. Along with her attacking mindset, Dominique was a major factor on the boards, racking up multiple rebounds, and she showed the drive and desire to save loose balls under the basket and dive on the floor for 50/50 balls. She hustled and worked hard the entire time that she was in the game.       [player_tooltip player_id='1865451' first='Kalee' last='Melo'] put together an exceptional two-way performance that completely disrupted the opposing backcourt. Defensively, she was an absolute pest, executing a great strip-steal directly under the basket to deny an easy score. Offensively, Melo showed great poise while handling point guard duties, orchestrating the tempo and showing off a deep shooting bag with a smooth step-back move to clear space for a three-pointer.
