PGH Indiana's The Expo: A Look at Team-1

Sunday evening marked the annual Prep Girls Hoops Indiana "The Expo". For me, it was a great way to see some of the state's 2027s and 2028s in one location, especially with them having traveled all over the Midwest/country during the Grassroots season. Below is a quick look at everyone who participated on Team-1.   .   TEAM-1:    LeAnah is an extremely long, wiry, quick, fast, and shifty combo guard. She is a playmaker off the bounce, and she tends to lull defenders to sleep by rocking them back and forth before she attacks. Her quick first step then usually helps her turn the corner, and she's at the rim finishing or drawing contact and headed to the charity stripe. With the number of graduation losses Lawrence Central has suffered the last two years, look for her to star in the backcourt this season for the Lady Bears.     Brooklyn's size and strength, plus her skillset, allow her to play effectively at all three levels and make her a versatile forward. She can and will battle physically inside, work for rebounds, and defend bigger opponents. At the same time, she's great facing the basket from the mid-post, and she can step out to the 3-point line and attack from there or knock down the occasional open rhythm jumper. She's a solid all-around athlete, and she should draw her share of nice small college opportunities this next year.     Over the first couple years of her career, Dallas grew a few inches and has a long, wiry strong frame because of it. At this event, however, she looked noticeably stronger, which will definitely help her at both ends of the floor. She has typically shot it consistently from outside, and she has a decent handle, but if she can now start to attack the basket more and absorb contact, that's going to help her be a more complete scorer and a much bigger all-around scoring threat for Westville this season.     We've made mention of Kylie's recent move from Lafayette Central Catholic to West Lafayette High School, and she will certainly add perimeter play and versatility to the Red Devil lineup. She has nice length, a wiry-strong frame, and she's a fluid athlete in most directions. She can handle it a little, shoot it a little, but she's also tall and strong enough to help with interior defense and rebounding, or score it around the paint. Though, I'd expect her to play almost exclusively on the perimeter and help handle the ball at times.     La'Starr just continues to get stronger and stronger, almost to the point that she is a "bully" on the perimeter. She has a very physical frame, strong shoulders, but she also possesses nice length. She's best on the wing, where she can catch, rip, and attack the basket North/South, using her physicality. At the same time, however, she does have solid ball skill, and she can make plays for teammates. She defends and rebounds well for her position, and she should have a really nice year for the Warriors.     Almost every time I've seen Lily play over the last 12 to 18 months, she always seems to be paired with another quality point guard, so because of her shooting ability, she finds her way to the wing. Sunday, though, I felt like I saw her handle it quite a bit and create offense for teammates. She slices into the lane and draws defenders, but she can also finish in crafty ways around the basket. She's an effortful and quick-handed on-ball defender, plus she will make a lot of hustle plays other girls won't.
