PGH Soph Showcase: Players Bring Grit and Half-Court Execution

The energy at the Texas Sophomore ID Camp was incredibly high, as these student-athletes demonstrated that they know how to play the right way at a showcase. Instead of the typical chaotic, selfish style you sometimes see at showcases, this group focused on strength, defensive lockdown, and half-court execution. They talked on the floor and prioritized playing team offense and defense over hunting stats. From high-level perimeter stops to smart shot contests without fouling, these student-athletes showed maturity and a competitive edge that will make college coaches happy down the road.    Franklin acted as an on-court air traffic controller, constantly calling out commands to direct her team's positioning. She put together a highly efficient scoring display, converting smoothly inside the arc and splashing a deep three-pointer. Franklin also proved valuable as a playmaker, securing a clean steal and dropping an immediate, accurate pass to an open teammate. Her poise stands out; she plays with complete control and stays unrattled under showcase pressure. She was an absolute pleasure to watch on the court.       Ternet was incredibly impactful on both sides of the ball. Defensively, she showcased quick hands, an impressive blocked shot, and the discipline to rush out and challenge shooters perfectly without fouling. Offensively, she was just as sharp, orchestrating the floor with a great assist pass before showcasing her own scoring ability with a powerful drive and finish at the rim. In the post, she had a great step-through for a score—job well done.       Coleman made her presence felt with lockdown, highly aggressive defense both on the perimeter and in the paint. She completely disrupted opposing ball-handlers, dictated the pace of the game, and flashed great touch around the rim by turning a defensive stop into a smooth scoop layup. Coleman is a tremendous, high-energy defender whose relentless effort and skill set will undoubtedly translate to the next level.       Hunter provided excellent balance and scoring for her team. She excelled at the dirty work, crashing the glass, securing defensive rebounds before immediately shifting into attack mode. Her ability to drive downhill with power allowed her to finish strong at the rack.       Harris flashed high-upside playmaking and excellent half-court coordination. Her shot was consistent, and she scored from the mid-range and beyond the arc. Defensively, she played within herself and kept her defender in front of her at all times.
