Southern Indiana Players Poised to Make Their Mark This Season

Anticipation is high as we quickly approach the tipoff to the 2026-2027 season. The fiery floor general has helped lead Christian Academy Lady Warriors to their best three-year span in school history and made them a real threat in 1A school ball. I'm impressed by Carly's ability to not only run the offense, averaging just under 4 assists last season, but also create for herself. Carly has a smooth and accurate mid-range jumper. With a rapid first step, she gets defenders on her hip with ease. She can stop on a dime, pull for the jumper or hustle to finish through contact. She's been putting in the work on her 3-point game this summer and that was seen during her impressive showing at the Charlie Hughes Showcase with a game high of 34 points. Carly's ball handling is also top tier and her defensive prowess is one of the best in the area. She will be a scouting nightmare for coaches this season. These two are expected to be deadly this season with their built-in chemistry and hunger to compete. Rachel collected a slew of accolades her freshman year as a Lady Warrior including the IGBRR 1A Freshman of the Year. I expect this season she will catch even more eyes and interest. She's a stocky guard with a deadly drive who averaged 18 PPG last season. At 5'5” her height is of no limitation that I have seen. She can score from any place on the court and pull rebounds with the best of them. She has competitive fire and you can't count her out even if she's losing. Many times, I watched Rachel rally her team to will their way to a win. She plays physical and with a relentless determination. She's an all-around athlete with a natural feel for the game. The freshman had a hot summer, averaging 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists for the Zero Doubt Lady Owls. She showcases a veteran toughness and high level IQ. Wherever the ball is on either end of the court, you will probably find Delainee there. She has an innate sense of where to be at all times. She's rapid on the drive to the rim, a disciplined defender with disruptive hands and has the height and determination to hit the glass. The Providence High School senior has certainly solidified her stamp in local gyms across the area. She's a tough one to contain with the ability to pull from the perimeter in a catch-and-shoot or on the dribble, at times adding a nice step-back. She can slice through defenders with ease. Just when you think there's no way the ball is going in, it defies logic and gets through the net. She boasts a hook feature to her layups when in heavy traffic and can score off balance, on one foot or two feet. Jayda has shown great growth leading in to her senior year. She has added an average of 5 points per game year over year since her freshman year. This is a good reflection of her investment in improving her craft.
