Jayda has improved so much throughout her career, and I think several schools are missing out by not recruiting her. She is a strong guard, she can play either backcourt spot well, and she is tremendously skilled and works hard at it. She is a very good perimeter shooter with some range, she can use the dribble to create space, and she absorbs contact extremely well when on attack. While she isn’t the fastest guard around, she does make up for it with her mind for the game and her ability to make shots from all over the floor. She is a very well-rounded basketball player.

Jayda showed a polished offensive game and consistently made smart decisions with the ball in her hands. She displayed good court vision, handled the ball with confidence, and created opportunities for both herself and her teammates. Her shooting ability stood out as she knocked down a three-pointer with confidence, and even got a favorable shooter’s bounce on another attempt. She also flashed her creativity around the basket with a smooth reverse layup. Jayda’s combination of shot-making, ball-handling, and feel for the game makes her a tough matchup in the backcourt.

Jayda is one of the premier scorers on this roster. Whether she is attacking the rim through traffic or pulling up from well beyond the three point line, she has the ability to put points on the board in a hurry. Her offensive versatility forces defenses to constantly adjust, making her one of the toughest covers on the floor.

Jayda has done such a good job of developing her game over the last couple of seasons, you can tell she spends a lot of time in the gym working on her skillset. She has grown a little as well throughout high school, she is very strong as a guard, and she sort of plays with a throwback, “old school” style. She does a nice job of utilizing her strength and frame by bodying defenders on the perimeter. When she gets that first step, she draws contact and can either get to the rim to finish or draw and-1 opportunities. Additionally, she is an accurate 3-point shooter, plus she has a nice pull-up game.

Rounding out this group is one of Southern Indiana’s promising perimeter players, Jayda Kempf Jayda Kempf 5'9" | CG Providence | 2027 State IN of Our Lady of Providence. The shooting guard brings scoring ability, confidence, and a competitive edge that allows her to impact games from the outside.

Kempf’s ability to stretch defenses with her shooting makes her a difficult matchup. She moves well without the basketball, understands how to create scoring opportunities, and can provide instant offense when she finds her rhythm. Her offensive versatility allows her to score from beyond the arc while also attacking closeouts and making plays off the dribble.

Beyond scoring, Kempf continues to show growth in other areas of her game, including playmaking and defensive consistency. As Providence enters the June period, she will be expected to provide leadership and offensive production. A productive summer could help establish her as one of the state’s emerging perimeter threats in the Class of 2027.

Jayda had a nice game when I saw her with her Kentucky Premier team, and she has done a solid job of transforming her game over the years. She has greatly improved her handle, and she showed the ability to act as a game manager and more of a combo guard. She did a nice job of drawing contact and using the free throw line as a weapon, but as she learns how to create space more efficiently, that can become a more consistent tool for her. She does still have a nice, high-arcing 3-point shot, and she gives good effort at the defensive end. She has become a really nice recruit.

Providence had a rare losing season last year, but Jayda is trying to rectify that this year. After starting the season 2-3, they have won five of their last six games, with the lone loss being by a single point in double OT to a strong Brownstown Central program. Jayda is a strong guard who has worked hard on developing her handle and creativity. She has increased her scoring by nearly 9 points per game this year (from 14.1 to 22.9), plus she is averaging a career high in assists (3.4 apg). She is a capable perimeter shooter, but her ability to be effective at all three levels puts a lot of pressure on opposing defenses. I would expect several elite small colleges to show interest this Spring.

Jayda is a lights out shooter from beyond arc. She knocked down a deep three from the key that hit nothing but the bottom of the net. She got rewarded for running the floor in transition and did a good job getting a hand up to contest shots at the perimeter.
