Week 2 Fall League Report

After highlighting some of the top performers from week two of the 695 Hoops Fall League, there were still plenty of players deserving recognition. The action at Pikesville High School featured talent across multiple classes, with players making an impact in a variety of ways. Whether it was scoring, playmaking, defense, or simply bringing energy to the floor, several more players caught my attention. Here's another group of standouts from week two.    Laila scored 10 points for St. Timothy's, knocking down a couple of three-pointers along the way. She is a long, athletic wing with the ability to attack off the dribble and stretch the defense with her outside shot. She put both parts of her game on display against Baltimore Poly, making an impact as both a shooter and a slasher. Her combination of length, athleticism, and scoring versatility gives her several ways to impact the game offensively.     Rhyleigh brought a lot of energy and athleticism to the game. She moved up and down the floor quickly and efficiently, making plays at the rim while also creating opportunities for her teammates. Her activity and effort allowed her to impact the game in several different ways. Rhyleigh always seems to find a way to shine during the fall league, and this year I'm looking forward to seeing that carry over into the regular season.     Poly found themselves down big, facing a 20-point deficit to start the fourth quarter. That's when the light seemed to come on for London. She went on a tear, working her way to the basket or finding an open teammate on seemingly every possession. London led the charge as Poly chipped away at the lead, eventually cutting the deficit to just four points before time expired. She scored 10 of her team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter, putting together an impressive late-game performance that nearly sparked a huge comeback.     Kerah had good size and did a nice job controlling the space in the paint. She rebounded the ball well and had some good finishes around the basket. She showed good hands and ran the floor well, giving her team another option in transition. Kerah also displayed the skill to start the break herself after securing a rebound and showed some nimbleness getting around defenders in the open floor. Her combination of size, mobility, and skill allowed her to make an impact on both ends of the floor.     Kahlan made good use of the hard dribble to get defenders leaning one way before quickly changing direction and creating space. She shot the ball well, knocking down multiple three-pointers with good, consistent shooting form. Kahlan finished with a game-high 17 points and three three-pointers, also a game high. Her ability to create off the dribble and make shots from the perimeter made her a difficult matchup throughout the game.
