The class of 2028 in Georgia girl's high school basketball is full of future high-level college players, including more than a handful that will play Power Four basketball on the next level. When you get below that group, the depth of talent is just as impressive as the number of blue-chip players at the very top. Each year nearly 20 girls sign to play basketball in college from our state, but this group will produce more. These players have been consistently impactful and effective players the last two years of high school, travel ball, and showcase. Their efforts and the corresponding positive results warranted moves higher up their rankings.

Ashia was one of the very best players recently at the PGH Georgia Expo that was full of players with college offers and interest. No one could guard her individually whether it was in three versus three or the five on five portion of the showcase. In the half-court, Mountain used her jab step to get defenders off balance and then utilized her quickness to blow by them and to the rim. She finished smoothly and with ease using both hands off the glass. Mountain also showed her ability to knock down shots from the perimeter both off the bounce and in catch and shoot situations. When she got going downhill on the break great things happened for her team. All of this could be said after watching her play at Peach Games with Team Elite Hubbard as well. With the move from tiny Frederica to Brunswick, she will put her talents on display in front of a much bigger audience in AAAAAA GHSA ball. I believe she puts that team as favorites in a very good region and herself in a great position to win Player of the Year in the region in addition.

Cartersville has good guards every year so I was familiar with Zoe's name but not necessarily her game heading into the Live period event with Insider Exposure this past July. After watching Zoe play for a couple of games in Greensboro it was clear to me she was different from some of the previous standouts the Lady Canes produced. Zoe was nearly automatic from deep whether the shot was contested or not. She was excellent handling the basketball and leading the break, keeping her head up and picking out open teammates sprinting ahead. McCurry also got to the rim and scored multiple times in each of the five games I watched Tennessee United play. It was the little things she did, like taking charges and diving on the floor for loose balls, that impressed me and the college coaches I was sitting with just as much. She holds offers from Bryan College and Shorter University heading into her junior season already and I expect that list to grow by season's end.

Kendall may be one of the more underrated players in her class while being invaluable to her high school and travel teams which is crazy to think about. Her size and skill also make her one of the more versatile players in her class in Georgia. Arnett played positions 1-4 for North Forsyth and Redline this Spring and Summer very effectively the multiple times I saw her play. Whether she was beating the full court pressure as the point guard out of necessity or battling and banging in the paint for boards as an undersized four, Arnett is counting on to do a little bit of everything whatever team she plays on. She is very well-rounded and can score the ball from all three levels, but it's the huge motor she plays with all the time that is just as much responsible for her upward move in the rankings. Kendall is a hard-nosed competitor who is not afraid of contact or to mix it up going for loose balls.

Lydia was outstanding when I watched Sequoyah this Summer playing off the very talented [player_tooltip player_id='674574' first='Carly' last='Bass'] and the rest of her talented teammates. Rogers effected the games in a very positive way without many, if any, plays being called for her to score. Rogers did damage when she did receive the ball however on the wing and the block. Rogers is a smooth and sneaky operator in the post. She has very good footwork and utilized head/shot fakes to up and under defenders. If they chose to run plays for Lydia posting up with her back to the basket I think she would have no trouble scoring. She shot the ball at a high percentage from the outside as well making her a legit inside-out threat to score on offense. Lydia I thought was even better at the Prep Girls Hoops Georgia Expo earlier this month. Rogers' game and confidence seem to be coming around and together at the same time and the right time for the junior and her Sequoyah teammates who have a chance to win it all.

Lyla had a very impressive individual season as a sophomore on a team that went just 6-20 averaging 10.5 points, over three rebounds, and almost 2 assists per game. Sanderson is one of the very best shooters in Georgia, regardless of class, but this Summer she showed other aspects to her game offensively. She functioned very well as the primary ball handler for both Explosive Elite and during the high school period in June. Lyla combined her excellent perimeter shooting with baskets in transition, and pull-up jumpers off the bounce against teams like Holy Innocents, Norcross, and Milton during the Summer League at Milton in June as well. Those teams were far superior talent-wise to Woodstock, but Lyla stood out in each game with her excellent play. She recently picked up her first offer from UAH (Alabama-Huntsville) and also took a visit. They will not be the last team to offer her as I think she will be a very solid player on the next level.

Ojeme made quite a splash during her sophomore season at Providence Christian. In fact, I am not sure I saw another player for the first time who has as much raw talent and potential as Akudo. The southpaw has very rare speed and quickness for a player her size and she is starting to utilize those gifts more and more. During the PGH Georgia Expo, Ojeme popped out to the perimeter to receive the ball several times and once she caught the ball and extended a huge first step defenders were helpless as she slashed her way to the basket and scored. She only needs one or two dribbles from the perimeter to get to the rim and when she does her shot is very rarely blocked or altered. Last season Akudo was the third option offensively and rarely had any plays run for her in the half-court. I expect that to change this season at Providence and I expect her to have a very good chance to win Region Player of the Year. I have talked to several colleges who are high on Ojeme but want to see continued development on the offensive end before extending offers. She is well on her way to doing that.
