Mountain was another player I had not seen heading into the Spring and Summer, but her performance over the course of three days at Peach Games was strong enough for her to enter the list and the top ten. Mountain did a very good job mixing her scoring duties with running the offense when she was at the point guard position. Mountain has very good speed and quickness to go along with very good ball handling, so it was no surprise she thrived in the high pace of the games Team Hubbard Elite played in. Mountain scored from all three levels efficiently without turning the ball over or trying to make plays that were not there. She is a player that with more evaluations and solid play on the court will continue to move up in the rankings.

Rumored to be heading to Brunswick, the GIAA superstar is an impressive playmaker whose stock is starting to surge now that she’s playing on the big stage. Mountain is sharp with the ball. Her blend of strength, speed and skill allow her to breakdown her defender as she penetrates to the hoop. Mountain is comfortable going both left and right. Ashia moves her feet on defense and is instinctual when it comes to poking away steals or deflecting passes. She can take over games with her perimeter defense alone, converting live ball turnovers into transition points. Continuing to add consistent range on her jump shot will make her even more of a weapon. The impact maker racked up 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block against Winners United.

It did not take long at all for me to go ask the Team Elite Hubbard 16U who number five was. I happened to be sitting next to a college coach who was taking notes in his book and he was as interested in finding out Ashia’s name as I was. Mountain got to the rim with ease throughout the course of the weekend keeping her body as low as her dribble as she went by defenders on the perimeter finishing with a package of floaters, lay ups, and midrange jump shots. One floater Mountain made was very tough especially since she shot the ball with her less dominant right hand while floating through the air. Ashia also made shots from behind the three point line, Mountain did a good job seeing the help defender coming and picking out her open teammates with assists for easy scores. Ashia was without question one of the best 16U guards at the entire event which included several highly ranked guards in the state.

Mountain is a scoring machine and has done it with ease. A player that can get to the basket and score through the contact. She is currently the leading scoring on her team which has been undefeated and looking to capture a State Championship this season. Mountain is a 2-way player that can do it all.

Mountain is a player that makes sure she is the best player when she gets on the floor. Her speed and ability to get to the rim is what stood out. Always in scoring mode but can play defense with the best of them. A player that couldn’t be stopped at the Sophomore Camp. Showed she can score from anywhere on the floor.

Mountain is a player that goes 100% anytime she is on the floor. A player that can score at will but also get her teammates involved. Not afraid to crash the glass which allowed her team extra shot opportunities. Plays both ends of the floor and has instinct to read the next pass and shot the gap. Knows how to score through contact.
