Coach Al’s Notebook- Fall League Edition

The 695Hoops Fall league featured closed to 30 teams at three locations over an almost two-month period. Some teams played weekly with others dropping in occasionally for some bump. Needless to say, my notebook is full and I'll be sharing some of my thoughts over a few pieces in the next few days. Here are some players to watch this winter.

I thought Josiah was really good throughout league play, and she showed a lot of toughness. Her conditioning and confidence have improved, and she was able to hold up under heavy ball pressure while maintaining her composure. I thought she made solid decisions with the ball and set up her shooters with good passes.

Bobbi had the ball in her hands a lot during league play, as she played both backcourt positions. She has shown growth with her decision making and has shown the ability to make shots from all over the court. She has a solid handle and a good first step, so she was able to get into the paint consistently. She has the potential to have a breakout season in Baltimore City.

Solid contributions from the promising young big throughout league play. She is super impactful on the defensive end and has made a bunch of highlight reel blocks. She helps the team close out possessions with solid rebounding, and she's been able to score off put backs. She has a nice touch and decent footwork so she will be a fixture in line up this winter.

Maggie is one of the best shooters in the area. She has a quick release and stays shot ready. She frequently gets off multiple three-pointers in one possession because moves well off the ball and knows how to relocate so her teammates can find her in scramble situations. She's quick and athletic and finishes well in the paint.

Alaina has carved out a nice role on Baltimore County's most dominant team. She has good size and quickness, so she's been able to get to her spots and provide scoring. She's active, moves well without the ball and seems to get her hands on a lot of loose balls and rebounds. I like the energy and versatility she brings to the court.
