Josiah is a dangerous shooter from beyond the arc who has the ability to knock down shots from well behind the three-point line. She has a smooth shooting stroke and is not afraid to let it fly from deep. Josiah is also effective at attacking the basket and creating opportunities for her teammates, doing a good job driving into the paint and kicking the ball out to open shooters when the defense collapses on her.

Josiah gained the respect of some of the people who hadn’t seen her play in a while. She shot the ball well, knocking down multiple three-pointers, while controlling the flow of the game from the point guard position. Her size gives her a low center of gravity, making it difficult for defenders to disrupt or steal her dribble. She also did a good job using passing lanes and angles to deliver the ball around defenders rather than trying to pass over taller players. Her combination of ball control, shooting, and court awareness allowed her to effectively run the offense.

Smalls lives by her name as one of the smaller players on the court. She, however, has one of the biggest games you’ll ever see. Her offensive skillset lacks nothing and her handle is impeccable. She was a leader on the floor rallying her team during every break in the action regardless of the score.

Shines in the open court, making smart decisions and executing plays efficiently. Can get into the lane to dish even at her size to create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. Her court vision and ability to  playmaker helps her team put points on the scoreboard.

Josiah Smalls didn’t have the greatest day finishing around the basket, and at times I think she would even admit she forced a few. But what you saw from her was her ball handling and passing. To me, she was the best passer on the day, especially hitting cutters or players near the basket when she drove. Josiah can shoot the ball as well but they didn’t fall for her today. Scoring will always come and go, but those intangibles and skills she has as a passer will always be there.

Josiah Smalls is one of the best players you will see this weekend. I watched her a little bit at DMVlive but wished I had the opportunity to catch more of her games for McDonough. Josiah is a knockdown shooter and a fierce competitor. She can play either guard position but will be much more of a 1. She has a nice handle and is a good facilitator.

Josiah has a good shot and doesn’t shy away from going after rebounds at just 5’5″. She handles the ball nicely and looks to make plays when the opportunity is there. She should be a solid contributor in her opening season with the Eagles.
