It's the beginning of October, which means the Fall rankings updates throughout the site are winding down. This week we will release the updated list of 2029 prospects, but I would like to turn my attention to the combo guards in this article. Below is a list of those prospects with "combo guard" listed as their primary position, followed by some attention for the newcomers, and a look at a couple of ladies who are on the rise.

Kyla was an easy addition to the 2029 watch list because she has tremendous athletic talent. If she isn't already a track participant, she probably should be. She is explosive in all directions, she's great out in the open floor in transition, and she is an active defender constantly hounding opposing ball-handlers. Playing with and against [player_tooltip player_id='751118' first='Saniya' last='Smith'], [player_tooltip player_id='1263952' first='Savayah' last='Mitchell'], and company in practice every day should only help her develop her skillset and prepare her for when her opportunities come this Winter in a loaded Red Devil backcourt.

Emily played her Freshman year at Tri-Township, and she was a key cog in their lineup. With them likely not having a team this Winter due to numbers, she made the move to Hebron and should provide them with a nice wing presence. She is long and wiry, fluidly athletic with some quickness, and she is an accurate perimeter shooter with a little range beyond the 3-point line. She can slide over and play some point guard, when necessary, but with [player_tooltip player_id='1810648' first='Laila' last='Yancey'] (2030) in the fold now at Hebron, look for Emily to be their 3-point threat.

Brooklyn is a skillful young guard who saw action in 19 games as a rookie last year for a very good Crown Point team. Playing alongside Ava Ritchie, she is able to learn and grow without too much pressure on herself. Brooklyn has a wiry-strong, athletic frame, she's able to handle the ball and run offense, plus she is a capable jump-shooter when set and in rhythm. Additionally, she isn't afraid to go inside and rebound at her size, plus she is a willing defender. I look for her to step up quite a bit in her second season for the Lady Bulldogs.

Addison first stood out to me at a showcase in March. She has a long, wiry frame, she is quick and shifty, plus she's fairly fluid/smooth. She loves to push tempo in transition, break down defenders in the halfcourt, and create scoring opportunities for herself and teammates. Whether she can play a traditional point guard role and run offense is next on the list, but she can create offense. Addison also does a really nice job of utilizing her length and quickness at the defensive end. She is a breakout candidate for Huntington North this Winter.

Emersyn is a talented, deceptive, under-the-radar athlete who plays with a tremendous motor. She has speed and quickness, vertical athleticism, and she is always around the action. She has the ball skill and understanding to play a PG role, but each time I've seen her, she looks like a natural just creating scoring opportunities and making shots from all three levels. With her athletic ability, I think she can become and elite on-ball defender as well. This Winter she could find a much bigger role for Guerin and have a breakout year.
