Emersyn is a talented, deceptive, under-the-radar athlete who plays with a tremendous motor. She has speed and quickness, vertical athleticism, and she is always around the action. She has the ball skill and understanding to play a PG role, but each time I’ve seen her, she looks like a natural just creating scoring opportunities and making shots from all three levels. With her athletic ability, I think she can become and elite on-ball defender as well. This Winter she could find a much bigger role for Guerin and have a breakout year.

Emersyn is a very athletic guard. She has a lot of bounce to her, she’s fast North/South, and she plays with a great motor. She is probably more of a scorer right now, but she does have enough ball skill, vision, and understanding to become a full-time point guard. In the last year, not only has she worked hard on her skillset, but she has always worked on getting stronger and more explosive. Additionally, she is an effortful defender. While she averaged 3.9 points and played a lot of quality Varsity minutes as a Freshman, I would consider her a breakout candidate for the 2026-2027 season.

Due to unfortunate injuries, transfers, and graduation, Emersyn is in a prime position at Guerin Catholic to have a breakout year after averaging 3.9 points and 2.0 rebounds per game as a rookie. She has a wiry-strong frame, she is fast North/South, and she is very bouncy. She plays with an outstanding motor as well. Her effort can be contagious, but as she learns to sense tone and change speeds throughout a game, I think it will help her keep defenses off-balance. She is a solid multilevel scorer, a creator for teammates off the bounce, plus she can get after it defensively.

Emersyn made it look easy as she glided to the basket for many drive-by buckets. She has cool control with the ball in her hands and an excellent finishing touch around the basket. Emersyn ran through a pass on the perimeter to create a straight-line driving opportunity, maintained her pace, then switched hands to her left for a smooth finish at the basket. She saw the floor well and distributed assists when the help arrived. Emersyn was a playmaker in the backcourt for Indy One 16U EYCL at The Encore.

Emersyn has grown a little since I saw her last Summer, and she’s probably closer to 5-8 at this point. She is very long, fluidly athletic, and North/South fast. She likes to get out in transition and create offense, but on the catch in the halfcourt, she can get that first step and turn the corner quickly. She has always had some touch from the perimeter as well, but I think as she finishes growing and gets stronger, it will help her be more consistent. The same thing can probably be said defensively. She does a nice job using her length at that end, but being able to dish out contact will help her in the future as well.

Emersyn is a shifty point guard with speed who had some eye-popping finishes at the Freshman Showcase for Team 4. She changed lanes with a quick crossover, blew by with a burst, and finished the tough and-one layup with a high arc. Emersyn split defenders again with a crossover to score a full-speed stretch layup with her left and added another drive-by layup. She pushed the ball up the court using both hands after securing rebounds, dished out assists, and caused a jump ball on the defensive end. Emersyn showed her quick hands, stealing the ball, and then turned on the afterburners to score a left-handed layup in transition.

I first saw Emersyn about a week and a half ago at a workout, and while she was solid there, some kids are just more comfortable when they are with their own teams. Yesterday she looked dialed in, aggressive, and strong with the ball. She ran offense most often, but she also showed the quickness and ability to get to the basket and finish, plus she knocked down a couple of rhythm jumpers. She’ll be one to watch in this still very young 2029 class.
