New Orleans had some hoopers ready to get after it at the Loyola Women's Basketball Prospect Camp! Players came in with an opportunity to show the coaching staff what they could bring to the floor, and several made sure their game got noticed. From knocking down shots to competing on defense, this group gave me plenty to like.

As a coach, I'm watching more than who scores the most points. I want to see who competes, who makes their teammates better, and who keeps working when things get tough. There were players at this camp who showed exactly that. They stepped into the challenges, trusted their preparation, and gave the staff a good look at their abilities.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278409' first='Kennedi' last='Turner'] put on a show on both sides of the floor and walked away with the 1-on-1 championship. That setting gives a player a chance to show what she can do when it's time to go get a bucket or get a stop, and Turner handled business.

[player_tooltip player_id='926696' first='Ellie' last='Johnson'] had a strong performance and won the free throw shooting challenge. Those shots take touch and concentration, and she came through when it counted. [player_tooltip player_id='946191' first='Kennedi' last='Whitfield'] earned overall camp MVP after showcasing her skills and leaving it all on the floor. The coaching staff was impressed, and she gave them plenty of reasons to be.

[player_tooltip player_id='1792659' first='Aubrielle' last='Theriot'] earned defensive MVP, bringing attention to the work on that end of the court. Defensive effort deserves recognition, and she earned hers. Gioia “G” Tatum also stood out with her smooth release, consistent shooting beyond the arc, sharp handle, and passing IQ. You could see the hours she has put into her game.

These young ladies gave us something to talk about in the Big Easy. Keep working, keep competing, and keep giving coaches a reason to remember your name!

Follow Coach Lathan on Instagram and X @coachlathan for more player evaluations, camp coverage, and basketball updates. The 5'10” Kenner Discovery post in the 2029 class brings a rebounding foundation that fits right into the “Big Performances in the Big Easy” conversation. Her high school production shows she can make her presence felt on the glass and contribute inside. That matters to me as a coach because securing a rebound can finish a defensive possession or give your team another chance to score.

Carter also earned coaches' All-District 9-4A recognition as a freshman. That's a strong step for a young player still building her game, and it gives her something to build on as she continues developing.

For Nyla, the next step is turning that foundation into an even bigger impact—sharpening her footwork, expanding her finishing options, and becoming more decisive around the basket. Those details can help her make the most of her opportunities in a prospect camp setting. There is room to grow here, and that makes her an interesting name to follow. Keep putting in that work, Nyla—give coaches more reasons to remember Carter!

[player_tooltip player_id='1319174' first='Isabella' last='Cortes'] is a guard with plenty to like in her game! The 2028 De La Salle prospect can handle the ball, create opportunities for her teammates, and compete on defense. Her previous scouting evaluations highlight that combination, along with the composure and toughness she brings to the floor. That's what I like in a guard—someone who can help run the offense and make her matchup work on the other end.

Cortes can also knock down shots beyond the arc, giving defenders another reason to stay close. Her recorded high school performances show that outside shooting is part of what she brings to the game. Pair that with her playmaking, and she has several ways to help a team offensively.

With “Big Performances in the Big Easy” in mind, Isabella is a name worth keeping up with. She has a good foundation, and I'm looking forward to seeing how she builds on it as her game continues to grow. Keep putting in those hours, Isabella—keep giving coaches a reason to remember your name!

[player_tooltip player_id='1305041' first='Ja'lanni' last='Fontenette'] has a game that can put a defense to work! The 5'8” Salmen guard in the 2029 class brings an attacking mentality, the ability to create off the dribble, and the versatility to play both guard spots. Her previous scouting coverage highlights her willingness to get downhill and take on a scoring role. That's a combination I like—a young guard who can put pressure on her matchup and help get the offense moving.

What makes Ja'lanni interesting is how much room she still has to grow. She has the size and scoring foundation to build on, and sharpening her decisions and becoming more consistent can make her even tougher to contain. Her Girls Fab 50 recognition is another sign that her name is getting attention.

With “Big Performances in the Big Easy” in mind, Fontenette is a prospect worth following. I'm looking forward to seeing her continue to develop that attacking game and turn more of those flashes into steady production. Keep working, Ja'lanni—there's plenty of upside here!

[player_tooltip player_id='1312956' first='Corley' last='Moore'] is a young forward with some exciting tools to build around! The 6'2” Alexandria prospect in the 2029 class brings size to the frontcourt, and her recorded high school performances show she can contribute around the basket, collect rebounds, and block shots. That combination gives her ways to help a team on both ends of the floor.

What I like about her potential is the value she can bring inside. A player who can finish a possession with a rebound and challenge shots gives her teammates something to work with. Social coverage has also highlighted Moore's touch near the rim and developing basketball IQ—two qualities that make her growth worth watching.

For this “Big Performances in the Big Easy” feature, Corley is a name to keep up with. As her footwork, strength, and finishing continue to develop, she has an opportunity to become an even bigger factor in the paint. Keep putting in that work, Corley—there's plenty of promise in this young forward!

[player_tooltip player_id='1850918' first='Jaliyah' last='Morris'] brings the kind of toughness I like in a forward! The Walker prospect can finish inside, compete for rebounds, and give her team extra opportunities through her work around the basket. Previous scouting coverage highlights her strength, ability to run the floor, and willingness to battle defensively. Those are valuable pieces of her game because she has ways to contribute even when the ball isn't in her hands.

What gets my attention is the combination of physical play and room to grow. Walker's basketball program recognized her with Honorable Mention All-District, highlighting her rebounding and expanding offensive game. That's a good sign for a player continuing to add more to what she brings to the floor.

For “Big Performances in the Big Easy,” Morris is a name worth following. I value players who can battle inside and help finish possessions, and her documented game gives her a foundation to build on. Keep sharpening those skills, Jaliyah—bring that toughness with you and keep giving coaches reasons to pay attention!
