We are pushing out stories this entire week from the event and we each will be writing different types of stories in order to cover as many different kids as possible. However, we each will be writing a story entitled “Best Performers I Hadn’t Seen Before” so we can introduce you to some new names that each of us had not seen prior to the event. Below, you can find the ten players that stood out the most to me who I had not seen play live before.
Angela Dugalić – 6’4 W – 2020 – Maine West HS
I had seen Dugalić play many times on streaming services but never in person prior to the Top 250. I was very impressed with her fluidness with the ball and the overall ability of her game. She was dominant all day long as she consistently scored at all three levels and played tough defense. It is easy to see why she was a highly sought after prospect. Committed to Oregon.
Tiana Tempe – 5’11 W – 2021 – Stockton HS
Tempe was a player who I had heard about but just had never seen to this point. She is comfortable with the ball in her hands and can get to the basket when needed. I liked how she was able to keep her head up with the ball in her hands the entire time. I thought that she showed really solid poise all day long.
Carley Faulkner – 6′ W – 2023 – Huntley HS
Faulkner was among the top freshmen at the showcase. She is a tough player who doesn’t shy away from contact whatsoever. Faulkner showed the ability to score the ball at all three levels and I thought that she looked very consistent in her ability to do so. Her game is going to transfer over well to the high school level.
Amina Gray – 5’5 PG – 2023 – DeKalb HS
Gray was one of the more impressive shooters that I saw at the Expo. She has a very quick step back which allows her to get a shot off even when her defender is taller. She has a nose for the ball and was defensively solid all day long. Gray is a small, but stout, two way player who should provide a spark at DeKalb.
Dawson Wright – 5’7 PG – 2023 – Warren Township HS
Wright had to of been one of the fastest players at the Expo on Saturday. Not only is she fast, but in small bursts she is very quick. Her speed allows her to get around defenders with ease and score the ball. That speed also helps her on the defensive end as she can gamble a bit more than other players since she can recover easily.
Kora Kipley – 5’7 G – 2023 – Buffalo Grove HS
Kipley was very impressive overall as she consistently scored the ball at all three levels. An uptempo player, Kipley was flying all over the floor making plays. She is a very high motor player who didn’t slow down all game long. It was enjoyable to watch her fly around the floor on Saturday.
Lindsey Hahn – 5’9 G – 2021 – Lyons Township HS
Hahn is a very solid shooter who can make shots in a multitude of ways. She has the ability to make step backs, pull up in the midrange, and get to the rim. I thought that she was one of the top pure scorers in the event. You don’t have to watch her long and you can quickly see that she is a premier shooter.
Audrey Hinrichs – 6’1 PF – 2022 – Fenwick HS
Hinrichs is a very solid post player who was able to use a bevy of moves to score on the inside. For a sophomore, her footwork is very solid as are her instincts with the ball in her hands. She’s a solid contributor on both ends of the floor who will just continue to get better.
Mary McGrath – 6’1 W – 2021 – John Hersey HS
McGrath stood out to me very quickly with her scoring ability as well as her overall motor. McGrath never stopped moving on the floor and was moving without the ball really well. She was reading the defense and getting to spots on the floor easily. McGrath was definitely a standout at the event.
Elana Wells – 5’7 G – 2021 – Burlington Central HS
Wells was a very impressive guard who played both on the ball and off the ball really well. I thought that she showed very solid poise and shot it extremely well from behind the arc. A dynamic playmaker, Wells was definitely one of the top combo guards at the event.
