5-Star Prospect Announces Her College Destination
Dalayah Daniels, one of the country’s top forwards, has announced that she will be attending California. Dalayah’s commitment was highly anticipated around the state. Widely regarded as a 5-star prospect in the 2020 class, Dalayah considered UCLA, Stanford, Duke, Oregon State and Princeton before deciding on Cal. 6’3 P Fatou Samb (Texas) recently announced her commitment to Cal as well and Dalayah only adds to the length and athleticism that the Golden Bears have been recruiting. The California Golden Bears have now had three five star commitments in the last week, according to ESPN’s rankings.
I first watched Dalayah back when she was in about sixth grade and it was easy to spot the potential. Her game and body continued to grow and develop into the 6’4, strong frame that we see today. Her skill set has improved a little bit each year, catching up to her natural athleticism. She is now a wing-forward with the ability to grab rebounds, push in transition and finish or find teammates to score. She is a great shot blocking presence on defense and moves her feet very well laterally, allowing her to defend multiple positions all over the floor. She led Garfield High School (Seattle) to the 3A state championship game in her sophomore year and looks to lead the Bulldogs back there again in her senior year.
Prospects Nation currently lists her at #26 nationally, ESPN has her at #14 and ASGR tabs her at #16. Dalayah is in prime position to make this year’s McDonald’s All American and Jordan Brand Classic Games. She had another strong spring and summer with Tree of Hope’s top team, playing on the Nike EYBL Circuit. Dalayah once again proved that she belongs among the elite prospects in the country.
