[player_tooltip player_id='1116098' first='Lauren' last='Pye'] was definitely in control on the court. The senior guard has very good handles and has the athleticism to go with it. Pye sees the floor well and can pass the ball. She can also get to the rim and score in traffic. She plays predominantly with the left hand on offense and when she develops that right hand, she is going to be a bigger problem than she already is. Defensively, she plays an in your face style of play, and she creates a lot of havoc on the press. Her quickness, low build, and athleticism allow her to defend and rack up on steal. Pye came into the tournament averaging over 4 steals per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='829395' first='Genesis' last='Henry'] was smooth out there on Day one. Henry handles the ball and can get to the rim with a crafty finish. She knows how to get points in a variety of ways and appears to let the game come to her. She can take it coast to coast and finish with an explosive move, shoot the midrange, and get to the basket. Henry's athleticism really stands out in the open court. She applies good on-the-ball pressure and plays the passing lanes well. She makes unbelievable plays in the back of the press as well. Henry has quickness, speed, and good anticipation and can get to the ball when it's in the air. The senior guard is impactful on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='248555' first='Trista' last='Brown'] showed leadership and did a good job of running the point guard position. Brown was very impressive at spreading the ball to her teammates and passing the ball into the middle of the paint. Her big was cooking all night long and Brown recognized the mismatch. She had some nice midrange shots that presented themselves throughout the game. She was efficient and knocked them down. The leadership and poise shown on the floor shows a lot of growth for Brown at the point position. Her growth as a point had a huge impact on the game and her team looked in unison as a result.

[player_tooltip player_id='221646' first='Terrannya' last='Medlock'] played really well and was methodical on both ends of the floor. She blocked nearly everyone who challenged her in the middle, grabbed a ton of rebounds, and showed her versatility as a defender. Medlock also defended on the perimeter. Offensively, Medlock was a stabilizing force for her team. With Medlock in the middle, the ball moved, and good shots were taken by her teammates. She was making a living in the paint. Medlock connected on a nice turnaround jumper in the middle of the paint and a short midrange shot. Medlock displayed a high IQ, taking what the defense gave her. She has the ability to shoot from the three point line, but realized on Day-one that her scoring opportunities were in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='370059' first='Nacoya' last='Blocton'] had some really nice takes to the rim. Her coast to coast handles were probably the best in the building. She has the ability to make moves and counter-moves while on the attack. Her ability to put the ball in the basket in transition is elite and no one in the Battle on the Island tournament does it better. Blocton also played well on the defensive end. She had a few blocks and that is one aspect that has improved in her game.

Donaldson played primarily around the goal and make a lot of good plays. She is a workhorse and gets rebounds and loose balls on the court. She can also rebound the ball and take it coast to coast . Donaldson Showed great speed and an explosive move to the basket. She made a nice pass to the middle for an assist. Donaldson played an all around game and was the truth around the basket and in the paint. She used her athleticism to relentlessly go after rebounds and loose balls. Her impact comes from that hustle and effort.

player_tooltip player_id='655704' first='Victoria' last='Noble'] (cover) made some plays and has knocked down sone shots on day one of the tournament. Noble is one of the top three point shooters in the tournament and she can string them up if the opportunity is there. She also provides great leadership for a very young team.
