Morenci made a memorable playoff push last season, ending in a quarterfinal defeat to state final runner-up Kingston. At this point, Morenci appears to be the top dog in D4 and ready to reach greater heights this postseason. The Bulldogs are 9-0 with statement wins against Concord, Reading, and Adrian Lenawee Christian. An undefeated season doesn't seem far-fetched, but they'll need to overcome a gauntlet of teams including Adrian Lenawee Christian, Brooklyn Columbia Central, Hanover-Horton, and a heavyweight matchup with Blisffield to end the regular season. The Bulldogs defeated Summerfield (D4, 7-1) 59-40 on Thursday to remain unbeaten. After streaming the game, here are a few impact players who stood out.

Emersyn poured in 22 points for Morenci during a 59-40 victory against Summerfield on Thursday. She drilled a couple of smooth triples from the wing including a dagger at the end of the third quarter to stretch the Bulldogs lead back to ten. Emersyn swiped the ball away and outraced defenders down the floor to score a breakaway layup. She continually beat defenders off the dribble to score floaters and layups in the paint throughout the game.

Colbie converted multiple tough finishes inside, giving Morenci an edge with her aggressiveness against Summerfield. She sealed her defender in the low post to create a passing lane and finished with a step-through layup. Colbie scored a strong and-one layup through contact in transition and added another contested layup off two in the paint.
Jaeli was a physical and determined forward who grabbed my attention during Summerfield's game against Morenci on Thursday. She secured a defensive rebound and dribbled through defenders to score an assertive layup off two feet: nobody wanted to get in her way. Jaeli captivated the crowd when she swept the ball on a baseline drive from the corner to score a contested layup off the glass. She used a spin dribble in the high post, got the edge, and beat her defender to score an and-one layup with her left hand. Jaeli pursued multiple offensive rebounds and 12 hard-earned points.

Mia sparked Summerfield's offense with her perimeter shooting and she had an impressive night against Morenci on Thursday. Mia buried 3 rainbow shots from beyond the arc including a long bomb from the wing. She attacked defenders with her dribble, scoring a passionate and-one layup. Mia battled for rebounds, pushed the ball in transition with her head up, and made a great impression with her competitive presence on the court.
