Colbie, a post player for Michigan Cobras , had a strong showing during the morning session of MI College Tour II – Wayne State, bringing consistent effort and physicality to the paint. She battled well on the boards at both ends, securing strong position defensively and creating extra chances with her work on the offensive glass. She turned several of those opportunities into points with second-chance finishes, and around the basket she displayed solid footwork along with a soft touch. Her presence inside was steady and impactful throughout the morning.

I was talking to a colleague before the game, and we knew Colbie was ready to deliver a monster performance. She was amped during the pre-game lineup announcements, and that energy continued during Morenci’s State Semifinal matchup against Ishpeming. Colbie led the Bulldogs with 18 points and added seven rebounds. She battled for interior positioning to score multiple offensive rebound putbacks, including one where she ripped the ball away aggressively and powered up off two feet for the finish. She cut backdoor, caught the entry pass, then scored through contact for the and-one. Colbie completed the three-point play at the line. She absorbed contact on a baseline drive and then scored one of her many layups off two feet. She crashed the glass to create second-chance scoring opportunities and turned in the most impressive game I’ve seen her play on the biggest stage against the toughest opponent.

Colbie, a junior forward for Morenci, is a player who consistently makes her presence felt around the paint. She does an excellent job establishing position near the basket, allowing her to score efficiently in close while also battling hard on the glass at both ends of the floor. With her length and mobility, Colbie can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim, finishing strong when she gets into the lane. She also runs the court well and stays disciplined defensively, keeping herself in the right spots to impact the game. Her effort and activity could play a major role tonight as Morenci prepares to face Petersburg Summerfield in the Regional Final.

When I saw Colbie compete during the travel season and at Northwood Team Camp, it became clear that she had the qualities of a top 50 prospect. Her long frame, mobility, ability to drive hard to the rim off the dribble, strong finishing, and persistent rebounding set her apart as a next-level forward. Colbie runs the floor well and keeps excellent positioning on defense. She picked up an offer from Spring Arbor in October.

Colbie’s prototypical length, athleticism, and versatility are exactly what colleges look for in a forward prospect. Her ability to score with her back to the basket and facing up creates matchup problems for defenders. Colbie muscled into position to secure offensive rebounds, forced fouls, and converted free throws with smooth mechanics at the line. She took a dribble hand-off downhill with explosive strides from the perimeter, and finished the layup with her left hand. Colbie caught a pass with soft hands and made a quick transfer for the layup. She runs the floor with pace in transition and moves her feet well on defense to force missed shots without fouling. Colbie looked good once again for Morenci at Northwood Team Camp.

Colbie put her next-level potential on full display with Michigan Cobras at the Cagers Invitational. Her length, mobility, toughness, strength, ability to handle the ball with both hands, finishing touch, aggressive rebounding, and defensive instincts resulted in a dominant 14-point performance in her final game. She blocked shots, scored offensive rebound put-backs off two feet, and drove the length of the court to score a breakaway layup. Colbie beat her defender with a swift baseline drive and caused the defense to foul. Earlier in the tourney, Colbie swiped the ball away and motored down the court to score a strong and-one layup late in the game, then knocked down her free throw. Colbie looks on track to be a heavily targeted prospect in this class.
