(cover photo) made a strong impression on the state stage, showcasing speed, maturity, and a level of control that stood out — especially for an eighth grader. She handled the ball well, controlled the pace of the game, and consistently made plays that shifted momentum. Defensively, she set the tone early, applying pressure and disrupting the opposing team’s rhythm. Her activity on that end created opportunities and impacted the flow of the game. Long viewed as a promising middle school prospect, Saunders is now well on her way to something more. As she prepares to enter high school after the summer, the “middle school” label no longer defines her — her game does. She is clearly on the rise and already showing the tools of a high-level guard heading into the grassroots season and beyond.

put in a solid performance as her team went down fighting. Saunders controlled the pace on the offensive side of the ball and her speed and quickness were the focal points of the opposition. She got to the rim a few times and showed an ability to connect on the perimeter when the defense gave her space. Saunders still repeatedly penetrated and repeatedly drew the double team. She had some nice assists and facilitated numerous quality looks for her teammates. On defense she was disruptive and forced a 10 second count and a change of strategy to deal with her pressure on the ball. Saunders played well in her second trip to the final four and she still has four more opportunities to return- the talented guard is just an 8th grader.

had a strong season and continues to emerge as one of the most dynamic young guards in her class. She is a blur on the court, using her speed and quickness to get to the rim and put constant pressure on the defense. Saunders can attack off the bounce, finish in transition, and create for others as a playmaker. Defensively, her quickness leads to steals and deflections, turning defense into instant offense. Her hesitation moves and ball-handling allow her to break down defenders, and she plays with confidence and pace well above her years. Saunders is a well-rounded young guard who continues to improve and can score and compete with the best young point guards on this list.

helped her young teammates create major expectations for the 2026 season following their Final Four appearance. Despite her youth, Saunders already plays with confidence and pace well beyond her years. Saunders and company are looking for an encore performance in the upcoming 2026 playoff season.

has already made a name for herself and ranks as one of the top 7th graders in the State and Country. Saunders was rather impressive with a lot of skill on the basketball court. Let’s table the tangibles for a second and talk about the basketball IQ of this young phenom. Saunder’s decision making, the anticipation, and the realization of how team ball can eliminate an opponent. Saunders’s showed the tangibles also. Her soft touch in the middle of the paint, her on-ball defense that forced the opposing guard to give it up early or take a bad shot. Her playmaking ability was very impressive. Saunders’s ability to handle the ball, keep the defender off balance with her change of speed, and her ability to accelerate instantly was next level stuff. Saunders can definitely score the ball. During this game she connected with a few midrange shots and layups at the rim. The young baller has a nice shot from behind the arc and a nice float game as well. Saunders played well and was one of the many standouts in the game.
