Matos is a tough guard who can get to the basket at will. Once she gets a full head of steam it’s tough to keep her in front of you. A player that works hard on ball and away from the ball. Rebounds well and runs the floor well in transition. Has the ability to shoot the 3 ball, mid-range and get to basket.

She has been quietly doing her thing on the local level in a rural area, and her name just hasn’t become widely known yet. Matos and company made it to the Final Four for the second consecutive season, but lost in the semifinals. That feat still provides a hint of the talent she possesses. When the music starts playing at the ID Camp, the party could get started quickly. She can shoot the three with very little space and knock it down off the catch or off the dribble. Confidence is something Matos has plenty of, and it allows her to play without fear. She can attack the rim, score in transition, and bring a little flair along with her game. Matos turned a lot of heads at the recent Reps on Reps camp with her athleticism and versatile play. She is one of the up-and-coming players in the 2029 class, and after the ID Camp, you will know her name.

Charlee Matos Charlee Matos 5'7" | SG/PG Hilliard | 2029 State FL was another young prospect who stood out, and her ability to shoot the basketball from virtually anywhere on the court separates her from most players her age. Matos has the kind of range that can make you say, “No, no, no…good shot.” That speaks to the confidence she has in her jumper and her willingness to pull up from well beyond the normal shooting areas on the floor at anytime. She showed that she is more than just a perimeter shooter, however. Matos also attacked the basket and finished at the rim, where she displayed her athleticism and leaping ability. She rebounds extremely well from the guard position and is especially effective at turning those rebounds into immediate scoring opportunities. With her deep shooting range, confidence, athleticism, rebounding ability, and scoring instincts, Matos was one of the best young guards I watched at the event.

She showed good ball-handling skills, can attack the rim with purpose, and has a nice feel for the game. She also does a good job of rebounding the ball from the guard position. Matos’s ability to connect from downtown put the icing on the cake and solidified her as one of the top young players in the showcase.

Charlee Matos Charlee Matos 5'7" | SG/PG Hilliard | 2029 State FL shot the ball well at the FABC and scorched the stat sheet with three games over 20 points, including one 32 -piece. Matos can shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor, and in her FABC year, she showcased that ability. Her shooting and scoring were great, but her rebounding from the guard position equally stood out – three double-doubles in 4 games was impressive.

Charlee used her length and versatility to make an impact in several areas of the game. One of her best plays came when she used a shot fake to get her defender off balance before driving and finishing with her left hand. She was active on the glass throughout the contest and did a great job securing offensive rebounds that led to second-chance points. Charlee also showed good court awareness by drawing a defender on a drive and delivering a well-timed bounce pass for an assist. Her ability to contribute as a scorer, rebounder, and playmaker helped her stand out during Saturday’s action, and she is a 2029 with a lot of potential that will substantially climb the rankings.

Charlee showed tight handles and played with confidence off the bounce. She finished a nice scoop layup under a defender and showed touch around the rim. She also shot it well from the deep, especially from the corner and knocked down a clean stepback three to show off how deep her bag is.

Moments later, she stepped into the passing lane for a steal and went coast-to-coast for the finish. The freshman guard followed it up with a polished baseline stop-and-pop, showcasing her midrange touch for two. She was smooth with the baseline rips to the midrange and really showed a maturity to her game well beyond her freshman years. Matos and company found themselves back in the final four and the freshman guard will get three more cracks at the championship in future seasons. Her skill set was impressive and her effort was even greater.

Charlee is a fearless freshman who has already earned the reputation of a shooter on scouting reports, but her game extends well beyond that with her two-way impact and overall playmaking ability.

Matos averages close to 13 points per game , 5.5 rebounds per game, several steals per game, and even leads her teams in blocked shots (19) for the season- from the guard position. Matos clearly impacts the game on both sides of the ball and makes plays that shift momentum. The young guards scored 14 in the first round of the playoffs and is looking to lead her team back to another final four appearance.
