About Amaya
Expert Analysis
Brandon Bradley | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Amaya is one of the most intriguing frontline prospects in the 2028 class in Indiana, because she has grown rapidly, she is probably closer to 6-3 now, she is long, wiry-strong, and she’s a fluid athlete with some bounce to her. She can put it on the floor and handle it in transition, she is good attacking slower defenders from the mid-post or the perimeter, and she is a pursuing rebounder who can reach caroms well-outside of her area. This could be a big Spring & Summer for her, playing against quality competition, and she looks a lot more active, playing with a greater sense of urgency.

Amaya is a key piece to what IBC runs offensively, especially because of her activity level and ability to impact the game without needing a high volume of touches. She does an excellent job in pick-and-roll actions, consistently setting strong, physical screens and then rolling hard to the rim. Her timing and effort as a roll threat put constant pressure on the defense, often forcing rotations that open up opportunities for IBC’s guards.
She also shows good awareness within the flow of the offense, understanding when to seal, when to dive, and how to create space for others. Her willingness to embrace that role and execute it at a high level makes her a reliable option within their system.
Defensively, Amaya brings toughness and a competitive edge that stands out. She plays with physicality, competes on every possession, and isn’t afraid to mix it up inside. Whether it’s battling for rebounds, holding position in the post, or providing help defense, she consistently gives strong effort on that end of the floor.
Amaya’s combination of activity, physical presence, and energy makes her a valuable contributor for IBC. She impacts the game in multiple ways and continues to be an important piece of their overall success.

When I saw Amaya earlier this Spring, I was really excited about what the future could hold for her. She is extremely long, wiry, and fairly fluid athletically. She has some skill offensively, and I feel like with continued work, she could possibly even become a tall wing by the end of her career. She doesn’t shy away from contact and goes inside to rebound/defend. But I still think her future could very well be on the perimeter with a little more work.

This was my first opportunity to see Amaya, live or on film, and I was very impressed with her upside/potential. She still needs some work, but I think she’s still growing, gaining strength, and figuring it all out. She has an incredible wingspan, she’s fairly fluid as an athlete, and she can get out and run the floor hard North/South. I have a feeling she’s one of those prospects who, if you have the ability to check in on her each month, she’s going to look different most times.
