The season starts on Monday and it's time to take a look at the top 10 teams in Kentucky heading into the season.

Ryle - The reigning state champions are back to defend their title. Senior Maddie Scherr is the favorite for Miss Basketball and the rest of the roster is loaded with players who will land at the scholarship level after graduation.

South Laurel - After a disappointing finish to last season, Coach Souder's team is hungry for a berth at Rupp and pushing to cut the nets down. The Senior trio of Sydni Hall, Amerah Steele and Ally Collett are capable of competing with anyone in the state.

Mercy - After getting a taste of the Sweet Sixteen last season, TT Jenks and Hope Sivori are back and hoping to get Mercy a state championship. Their region is loaded but they have the pieces to win it all.

Elizabethtown - Like South Laurel, E-Town had a disappointing end to the 2019 season. They have 2 D1 signees in Whitney Hay and Ellie Taylor and a chip on their shoulders after falling short of their goal last season.

Sacred Heart - The only team on the list who is adding a SEC commitment to their roster this year, the Valkyries are excited to have a healthy Erin Toller back in the fold.

Franklin County - Brooklynn Miles and Patience Laster are one of the toughest duos in Central Kentucky and will be a tough matchup for anyone they play. They'll be anxious for revenge against Scott County, who ended their season in the regional semis.

Southwestern - Last year's runner-up, Southwestern returns nearly everyone from the team who came up a game short of cutting the nets in March.

Owensboro Catholic - The best team in western Kentucky, Catholic has Murray State signee Hannah McKay and a whole host of talented players set to make a push back to Rupp Arena.

George Rogers Clark - Another team that returns a good core from an Elite 8 team last year, Coach Graham will have to rely on Senior Kennedy Igo to provide leadership to a relatively younger group than he's had in recent years.

Butler - Always a threat to win the region and more, the faces on the roster change but the winning tradition never graduates. Look for Junior Tiarra East to establish herself as a top player in the 2021 class.
