As I sit here rubbing my hands together, I am astonished by all the top performances from our young ladies across the state as Week 12 kicks off. We are getting down to the nitty-gritty and this is the time of year when kids either want it or are ready to pack it up. I will say this, I haven't seen one club that is just flat-out done. No matter the record, kids are still getting after it, doing what they can to help position their club to obtain a victory. That's a testament to their heart and their will to win.

This time of year can be tough. Matchups are tighter because usually, you are getting a second crack at an opponent. Opportunities such as placement in the standings are on the line. Shoot, you are playing a school you just don't like. Add in non-basketball factors such as school work and the weather changes, this time of the year can be tough around here.

Week 12 kicked off this week with some top performances from some kids. From all classifications and talent levels, girls stepped it up to start the week strong. We've had some upsets and close finishes, which makes this game special. Here are just a few solid performances from kids around the state.

You talking about an impactful player, this young lady has been that for her Lipscomb ball club. She is a solid two-way player who can score at all 3 levels. Last night against Harpeth Hall in the waning seconds, her club was down 2, her teammate missed a shot, the ball was rebounded, kicked out, skipped to Ava at the top of the key and she drained a 3 to put her club up as the buzzer sounds. My point in this scenario is the poise she displayed to come in clutch during such a pressurized moment. She's a stellar kid with ice in her veins. A big-time player who accomplishes big-time things.

After suffering a devastating injury during her junior year, this young lady has fought back to play the game she loves. Tuesday night saw her go to war with her club as they downed Silverdale. It was her heart and her hustle that sparked a run for her club. This kid doesn't take anything for granted as she competes for each and every possession on both ends of the floor. From scoring the rock to doing the little things, her ability to impact the game through her actions goes unnoticed. She is a great teammate, a great leader, someone who leads by example and willing to do whatever it takes to uplift her team. Solid kid who is a tough player in more ways than one.

She has picked up as if she never left. Keep in mind, that she has battled back and only has played a handful of games thus far, however, her play has uplifted her ball club, inspiring them to do great. Reese has been a bucket, scoring 20+ in each of her contests since her return. She came back for one reason and that is to help her team lift up the trophy at the end of the year. These Dragonettes are locked and loaded especially with their leader back.

is a solid kid who is having a sensational sophomore year. She's a gamer, willing to do whatever it takes to help propel her ball club. Playing against some stiff competition as of late, this kid has been fearless in her effort to win. She put up 20pts, 5 assists, and grabbed 5 boards. Performances like this are normal for her. She's a multi-level scoring threat who gets after it on both ends of the floor.

Though her team was the heavy favorite in this game, her energy from her actions was on display. She was hungry against Crosstown as she dropped 44 points against her opponent. She was active on the defensive end, creating chaos that led to easy transition buckets. During sets, she was getting to favorable spots, as she scorched the bottom of the net. This kid is solid and has the will to do whatever it takes to help her ball club win. Look for her to continue to stack performance as she takes the reins of her senior season.
