I watched two final games on Saturday March 8th with Hamilton defeating Gilbert in OT 56-54 for the 6A Chip in easily the wildest game of the year. I also watched Millennium defeat Valley Vista 57-30 in the OPEN Chip.

Here were the 6A/OPEN Final Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='590992' first='Destiny' last='Lunan'] Millennium (Pictured)

One of the top players in the entire state showed off on the biggest stage of the year. She scored 37 points with catch threes and off the dribble. She is fierce on the ball and will collect steals and then take the contact to the basket the other way. Her ability to change speeds with bursts makes her game go. She is very hard to keep in front. It doesn't hurt that she is taller and quicker then most who defend her.

[player_tooltip player_id='751754' first='Dashia' last='Richardson'] Millennium

A stronger framed point guard who can score getting to the basket with a tighter handle and huge confidence. She will score with threes off the catch, dribble drives to the basket and spin moves thru contact with and-1's. She scored 16 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='797311' first='Mariah' last='Brownlee'] Millennium

An athletic wing forward is a very good defender. She did not score but she is a good rebounder in her area and she is very active on the ball defensively. She collects steals and provides another player who can handle a ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='797281' first='Emma' last='Bremer'] Valley Vista

A true post player will score and defend. She will score with put backs, mid-range jumpers and rebounds at a good clip. She keeps the ball high and will outlet it to her teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='530989' first='Tysyn' last='Johnson'] Valley Vista

An undersized point guard with the ball on a string. She will put her foot down and turn the corner to get to the basket. She is quick on quick with blazing speed.

[player_tooltip player_id='602888' first='Jada' last='Wilson'] Valley Vista

A high motored forward is a Swiss Army Knife. She defends multiple positions and rebounds at a high level. She will score with rips thrus and offense rebound put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='892625' first='Natalie' last='Yanes'] Valley Vista

An undersized scoring point guard has a super quick release on her three point shot and has immense confidence. She handles the ball well and give the team another ball handler.

[player_tooltip player_id='912406' first='Contessa' last='Ivy'] Gilbert

A bigger sized point guard has a tighter crossover and she has a good change of pace and speed to blow past her defenders. She can make plays for her teammates and rebounds the ball usually well for her position.

[player_tooltip player_id='589986' first='Isabella' last='Ivy'] Gilbert

A very quick scoring point guard is tough on the ball defensively. She had one of the best games that I have seen this year for someone who started a little off target. She is very quick to get downhill and then she went off. She hit five triples in a row in the 4th and in OT. One three happened to be a half court shot to send the game into OT that sent the big crowd into a frenzy. She finished with 30 points in fine fashion.

[player_tooltip player_id='598979' first='Aspen' last='McClees'] Gilbert

A physical framed power forward can score it multiple ways. She will post up inside with contact, rip thru into the paint, spin moves into layups and collect steals and lay it in on the other end. She scored 13 points with 3 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='624028' first='Taylor' last='Sipfle'] Hamilton

The tallest player on the floor is a good rebounder with two hands. She will score with fall aways in the post and offense rebound put backs. She keeps the ball high for offensive rebound put backs and outlets the ball well. She scored 15 points with 11 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='591482' first='Destinee' last='Benway'] Hamilton

A good sized combo guard can score with deep threes, dribble drives in traffic and ball fakes into a layup. She is a good rebounder in her area and made a few passes perfectly in stride. She scored 10 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='589954' first='Sage' last='Henry'] Hamilton

One of the taller combo guards in the class. She is a good rebounder for a guard and gets downhill with quick bursts to score or get to the free throw line. She will also go coast to coast and handles contact well. She has a tighter handle with advanced body control in the lane. She hit two clutch threes in the 4th and an and-1 in OT to tie the game. She scored 22 points with 10 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='591493' first='Izzy' last='Anderson'] Hamilton

A facilitating point guard is a needle threader who will set up her teammates with dimes all over the court. She only scored 3 points but she had 5 assists and many of them off of a live dribble impressively.

I watched two final games on Saturday March 8th with Hamilton defeating Gilbert in OT 56-54 for the 6A Chip in easily the wildest game of the year. I also watched Millennium defeat Valley Vista 57-30 in the OPEN Chip.
