I just got home from the PGH Legacy Region Kick-Off. I have multiple kids I'd like to highlight from games over the weekend, but we'll start with a few kids who had solid days on Saturday and continue with other kids through the week.

[player_tooltip player_id='747942' first='Josie' last='Piurkowski']

After a shaky start to Saturday, Piurkowski more than found her groove to end the day. The Brookfield native caught fire in her second game and made 10 of her final 11 shots, including a deep three to earn her team the win at the buzzer. Piurkowski can make shots in bunches and swing games. I thought she did an excellent job rebounding from a rough showing in the first game and regaining her confidence in a game they wouldn't have won without her. She showed plenty of resolve, and I thought she showed plenty of mental strength to do what she did.

[player_tooltip player_id='751252' first='Carrington' last='Balthasar']

I thought Balthasar played the best I've seen her play. She looked confident with the ball in her hands and looked quick off the dribble. The Whitefish Bay native got downhill whenever she wanted and looked more effective than I've ever seen her. She also did an excellent job of distributing. Each time she got the ball in transition, the guard created open shots for her teammates. Balthasar's aggression generated open looks for her teammates all game long, and it helped her team extend a lead late. I thought she made a good account for herself this weekend. She'll be one to watch this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='874380' first='Olivia' last='Williams']

Shots didn't fall for Williams' [program_tooltip program_id='712778' first='Purple' last='Aces'] group. She played well. Williams was a 40% shooter from beyond the three-point line in her sophomore season. Williams shot the ball well in the second half of the game to end the day for [program_tooltip program_id='712778' first='Purple' last='Aces']. She's always been an excellent hustle kid and finds ways to score around the basket. However, she showed what she could do behind the three-point line, attempting to get her team back into the game. Williams is a competitive kid who helps her team win games and will be an intriguing kid for scholarship programs who'll watch her team this coming live period and beyond.

Ronniya Murphy

I love watching Murphy defend. Her lateral quickness is elite, and she has a nose for the ball. I thought Murphy was an intriguing kid at the Freshman Showcase. However, she didn't earn many minutes at Verona this past season. I thought she looked athletic and did an excellent job making plays on the ball on the defensive end of the floor. Murphy also made some outstanding finishes at the rim for and ones today.

I just got home from the PGH Legacy Region Kick-Off. I have multiple kids I'd like to highlight from games over the weekend, but we'll start with a few kids who had solid days on Saturday and continue with other kids through the week.
