One of the marquee events of the W's All-Star festivities is its Skills Competition – similar to the NBA's version during its midseason festivities. In honor of All-Star weekend, we decided to take a local focus at the scene here in South Carolina and put a spotlight on a few skilled guards across classes.

The first of our two seniors hails from the Grand Strand. Davis was a massive reason for why 5A Division 1 Carolina Forest concluded 2024-25 with a record of 25-4 – not to mention winning its region by running the table against its 6-AAAAA foes. Davis wore the burgundy and black hues of the Panthers on 28 occasions last season while averaging 8.2 points, 5.6 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals a game. A highlight of Davis' season occurred in early January when she landed her first collegiate offer from USC-Salkehatchie. It was last year when Davis first began wearing the [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] uniform for travel ball.

Roach forever etched her name in Walhalla lore this past season. With head coach Byron Wimphrie at the helm for the Razorbacks, Roach tallied 10 points in the 3A final against Dillon to claim Walhalla's first-ever state championship by virtue of a 52-37 decision. Throughout her career, Roach has excelled in a variety of athletic disciplines – including soccer and volleyball alongside basketball. She established career highs in points, assists and steals in 2024-25. Roach averaged 15.2 points, five assists, four steals and 3.6 rebounds last season at Walhalla. She has played at the varsity level since she was in the eighth grade.

If one needed to know how skilled a ball distributor Moore is, look no further than last year's SCISA 4A semifinal. Moore earned the game-winning assist as First Baptist stunned Heathwood Hall (defending champions at the time) in a 54-52 decision to earn a state date against Trinity Collegiate. Moore's schedule this travel season with [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] has included the EYBL Session 2 in Des Moines and EYBL Session 3 in Louisville. Moore competed in 32 games last season with the Hurricanes and she averaged 9.4 points, six assists, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 steals.

Around Palmetto State hoops circles, it becomes clearer every day that Lucas is one who needs no introduction. She will be embarking on her sophomore season at 4A South Pointe and has a lot more varsity experience than a typical 2028 given her first season playing varsity was as a seventh grader. Lucas has worn the uniform of FBC United The Family 16U while playing on the Under Armour circuit. Last season, she averaged 20.8 points, 4.7 steals, 4.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. The Stallions have been among the 4A teams to beat the last several seasons. South Point was an Upper State finalist last year and expect the Stallions to once again contend for 4A state glory in 2025-26.

When one has collegiate offers to ponder prior to beginning their freshman season, someone is doing a lot correct on that 94 by 50 feet of hardwood. Riles landed offers from Voorhees and Allen merely two weeks ago. Last season's 2A Lake City assembling had a banner season, finishing with a 17-8 record and winning a tough Region 7-AA by finishing with a 10-2 mark. She followed up the stellar numbers she put up in her seventh grade season by averaging 12.2 points and three steals a contest as an eighth grader. Look for this already multi-talented youngster to continue to positively develop her game with experience – and land more collegiate looks in the process.
