Campfield is headed to St. George’s. They’re getting one of the region’s best ’30 guards and she’s going to be a wonderful addition for the next 4 years. SGS is going to be so pleased with what she brings to the table, especially considering how young she is.

‘Lainey’ as known to her peers, finished off the school season with a championship. Campfield put up 20 pts, 10 reb, 11 stl and 7 ast in this one. What’s incredible is that this is somewhat of a normal stat-line for her. This spring, the ’30 guard will be under close watch. When the schedule comes out, there’s no question a few of her BCRI games are getting circled on the calendar.

Laine has had plenty of performances where she’s went into that deep bag of hers. The dynamic guard has the ability to absolutely take over games and she’s already been battletested playing against experienced upperclassmen. One thing that’s for sure is that Laine’s imprint will be left on the game. There’s just no telling how high the ceiling is with Campfield.

Laine is no stranger here; she’s been mentioned yet again for the January 31st eruption. Her absurd numbers were more than noteworthy. Campfield put up 32 pt, 8 ast, 10 reb plus 9 stl while going 6 for 6 from 3. Her natural instincts, constant activity and finetuned 2-way firepower is unmatched when considering age. With this level of capacity, it’s hard to tell Laine’s ceiling. This is a player with an exceptionally bright future.

The play from Laine over the month has been eye-catching. The balanced 2-way play as well as consistency is awfully striking. Her ability to be a strapping defender, make a play on the ball, create a turnover and convert those into points is staggering. Despite being young, her presence is constantly being felt. Campfield has been a rising name within her class for a while now, but in the recent ’30 rankings she’s gained the respect she deserves. Laine is now sitting at the #7 spot in the class.

The highly touted 8th grade prospect has come with another imposing performance this season. Campfield’s 23 pt, 4 stl showing the other night was an indication of the hard work she’s been putting in. The execution as well as composure is more than impressive coming from a young guard at this stage. She’s surely sharpened her skillet and it’s becoming more apparent that Laine is one of the brightest in her entire class.

Laine has impressed with both her middle school team and her town travel squad. She stands out as a confident on-court leader, handling the ball with poise and delivering well-timed, accurate passes that elevate those around her. Aggressive when attacking the basket, she does a good job carving out space, while also showing maturity by not over-dribbling and pulling up in the mid-range or finding open teammates.

Laine is a lethal catch-and-shoot threat from behind the three-point line, consistently knocking down shots with confidence. She picked countless pockets, using her length to disrupt passing lanes and immediately pushing the ball ahead in transition. When defenders close out too aggressively, she puts the ball on the floor and either gets all the way to the rim or stops on a dime for a smooth mid-range jumper. Her combination of size, shooting, and defensive instincts makes her a major two-way impact player.

Special things happen when Campfield has the ball in her hands. She’s a tremendous playmaker that has some blue-ribbon attributes. Laine’s ability to attack closeouts after exercising her triple threat options is something that may get overlooked, but is a fine skill to have. It’s not just athleticism that propels her in drives; she understands how to move and get exactly where she wants to go. She sheds off physical contact well too. Some players get veered off their angle, but Laine remains centered. That balance allows her to be adept using her left hand and right hand to be effective. Usually, she’s doing her damage within the halfcourt, but Campfield also has the ability to knock down shots off the dribble. As a confident player with the ball in her hands, she’ll easily stop and pop for a 3-pointer if the defense isn’t engaging yet. Laine is a staggering talent that can be a nightmare to contain. She’s one of those players that needs to be focused in on at all times of the game.
