Expert Analysis

Zaire separated herself as one of the highest-level forward prospects in the gym right from the 3v3 segment, and after what she showed earlier in the spring at the PGH Great Lakes Region Kickoff, I’m not surprised. Length, freakish athleticism, mobility, quick lateral feet, natural shot-blocking instincts, strong rebounder, and the ability to go up strong and finish with either hand. A picture is worth a thousand words: Zaire grabbed a defensive rebound, pushed it up the floor with pace, covering ground in a hurry with her long strides, went up strong, then finished through contact for the and-one bucket. She attacked downhill to force fouls, leaped up to bat down passes on the perimeter, got by off the dribble to score a tough, stretch and-one layup, and finished well around the basket throughout the day. Her length, athleticism, and mobility gave Team Two an advantage on both ends of the court at the PGH Illinois Sophomore ID Camp.

Zaire has towering length and a fierce interior presence that immediately makes her stand out on the court. She had an impactful Saturday for Mac Irvin Fire Brown 15U at the Great Lakes Kickoff. Zaire tore a defensive rebound away from the opponent and defended the post very well, working to stay in full deny, and deflecting entry passes away. She blocked multiple shots without fouling, including a ferocious swat on a drive that sent the ball flying out of bounds. “Get that out of my house!” Zaire finished a strong and-one layup off two feet, scored another two foot bucket at the rim, and crashed the boards to secure rebounds on both ends.

High energy, and the motor to match it. Lester has all the tools to make an impact on the boards and on defense. Offensively, time is on her side, and by having the frame and length, she’s already a couple of steps ahead. Kenwood has developed a ton of talent over the past couple of years, and Zaire will follow that mold.

A different skill set than her teammate. A strong rebounder, defender, and athlete. She worked hard all game to give her team extra possessions and clog the lane. As her shooting touch improves, she will continue rising among the best bigs in the state. Her effort alone changes the energy of the game.

Every program, no matter the level, needs a player who can be a 3&D threat. On one end of the ball, she can stretch the court and force the defense to hesitate on any decisions they might make, and on the other hand, she can protect the paint due to her length. She’s a player who can truly excel in any system due to her length and versatility.

Lester is a prospect who shows a knack for every skill needed to be a strong prospect. She plays the game with aggression, and it’s really shown on the defensive side. She can be a paint blanket or lock down the perimeter. Offensively, she can be a slasher or get her own from the nail on down.

The athleticism, length, and mobility at that size are always worth the double take, but her need to stay moving and play with energy are big reasons why she’ll be a strong piece for Kenwood moving forward.
