In their first year of high school hoops, the centers and bigs in the class of 2028 had some great moments. There is a long way to go in their prep hoop journeys, but many are off to some promising starts. Here are a few centers that could keep trending up and see a rise in their rank come the 2025-2026 high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='881129' first='Jaslyn' last='Butler'] is already one of the tallest players in her class, standing at 6'4". She showed in her freshman season that she uses this height well, especially on the defensive side.

On defense, Butler is always engaged. She is moving constantly and has great rotations. Because of these two factors, she puts her in ideal situations to get shot blocks and heavy shot contests.

Last season for Rhea County she had multiple games with two or more blocks. This includes a performance against Jellico High School, where she had four points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks. If Butler's defensive presence continue to trend up the way it was during her freshman season, and her offensive game develops more there is nothing stopping her from climbing the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1055728' first='Lane' last='Smith'] put together a solid freshman season at Lipscomb Academy.

A couple of things she displayed in her first year of high school hoops is her rebounding ability and her three-point shot. Smith makes her jumper essentially unblockable when she decides to let one go from distance. She has both a high release point and high arc on her shot. As time goes on in her career her jumper will become more reliable and a huge weapon on the court. Smith is also a great rebounder. She knows how to position herself in the best spots in order to come up with boards for her team.

A game last year that showed off both the mentioned skills of Smith was when she played at Goopasture Christian High School. In the game, she had two threes, a total of 10 points, and eight rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1155048' first='Destini' last='Ligons'], in her freshman season, showed a lot of promising traits at the center position. One of her main skills she showcased was her shot blocking. In that she showed at 6'0", she could use her size as an advantage, and showed athleticism with thus skill . Unlike many bigs at the high school level Ligons, gets off the ground on her shot blocks and contests.

This athletic ability she has is also seen on the offensive end, where she has plus speed and runs in transition well.

Cleveland High School has an extremely promising player in [player_tooltip player_id='822479' first='Addy' last='Gravelle']. As just a freshman, she showcased an advanced offensive game, especially at a height of 6'0".

First off she has a great three point shot. She does not hesitate when giving the space from long range. Even if opponents get a contest she can shoot over most of them with ease. Inside the paint she has great feel at finishing around the basket, and can score with both hands. She is especially good in pick and rolls. She sets screens that hit defenders like a stone wall, and uses her scoring ability down low in these situations often.

[player_tooltip player_id='1155014' first='Tempo' last='Haun'] is not a center, but at the power forward position at 6'0", she brings a lot to the hardwood.

Haun looks like a future college basketball player. At the height she is at she has superior coordination skills than most players in the same class and a similar height. She can create offense off the dribble, by passing, and can do so herself with a shot from distance.

Her three-point shot is her go-to shot in her offensive repertoire. However, she is also capable of scoring all three levels.

On defense, she has the speed to disrupt and guard point guards, as well as the length and size to guard a team's center. Haun is an extremely promising prospect and has an unbelievable chance to rise rapidly in the rankings.

In their first year of high school hoops, the centers and bigs in the class of 2028 had some great moments.
